in reply to: Synthroid resistant hyperthyroidism? #1184377
Thanks so much Liz. Please see my reply to Kimberly.
in reply to: Synthroid resistant hyperthyroidism? #1184376Thank you, Kimberly. I never even considered after ablation that there could still be thyroid remaining. That must be what’s happening with me. I will just have to wait it out until they can determine after many, many months that lowering my Synthroid dose isn’t doing any good. I think my hyperthyroid symptoms are still pretty mild at this point after a year. I did have a bad bout with TED a while back with double vision and proptosis and that is my biggest fear, as my eyes are starting to bulge again. I know they don’t associate TED with the hyperthyroid state, and I guess it’s just a coincidence that this is happening, but it’s a scary feeling. Thanks again for your support and I will check back in as things progress.
in reply to: Sub Clinical Hyperthyroid? #1184384I shuddered when you said you decreased the dose on your own. I have been so tempted to do that in the past, but believe me, you need to have the trust of your treating MD and follow their exact orders. It is so frustrating to wait this out between testing but you really have to exercise patience as even a tiny decrease or increase can really affect how you feel, and it can take a few months for the correct dose to ‘sink in’ with your thyroid and normalize its function, so hang in there and follow your doctor’s advice. If you can’t stand to wait, look into getting another opinion, please, but don’t change your meds on your own.
in reply to: Anyone using Restasis for dry eye? #1184320I went on Restasis for a whole year and it did absolutely nothing for my dry eyes. I don’t think there is a cure, just gotta keep using those eyedrops. I use Systane Ultra 6 times a day.
