in reply to: We’ll see update 5/24 Thyroid concern… #1061887
i forgot to put this up here..
My results for 5/9/11 are as follows. which makes me confused as to why the dr thought it could still be thyroid even though these results were fine.TSH, 3rd generation 1.48 (range: 0.40-4.50)
T4, Free 1.3 (Range: 0.8-1.
T3, Free 2.8 (Range:2.3-4.2)Wouldn’t I still have antibodies from being in active Graves disease from years ago, thus the results showing high? I can not find any results that show that these tests were ever done on me…naturally! lol
in reply to: Worried about my test results… #1061746kelly, what was the tsh level that the nurse thought needed to be tweeked. This is strictly for curiousity purposes only ” title=”Very Happy” />
You need to make sure you see a DR not the nurse. Unless she is a nurse with an MD behind her name she shouldn’t be messing with your levels.
in reply to: We’ll see update 5/24 Thyroid concern… #1061886I have been in a wirlwind of emotions today. Very busy with so much stuff and unable to focus. I am not sleeping well at all, tried to relax and a fat lot of good that did.
I received a partial report from labwork that dr. took last friday. I know we do not interpret results on here but I am confused as to what she did and I didn’t want to google it because I know I don’t feel well, having a hard time breathing(allergies are bad and dr. is aware) so I’m trying to rest and I don’t want to get upset for no reason.
Thyroid Peroxidase AB (Range <35 IU/mL) mine is 86 and says out of range
Thyroglobulin AB (Range <20 IU/mL) mine is 32 and says out of rangeCK total is 85 it’s within range
Rheumatoid factor is within range as well
My lyme tests are confusing so I’ll have to wait for the final results of that one. Clearly lyme is there though and it seems that my Vitamin D is 29 when it should be between 30 or higher. My concern is the thyroid stuff the lyme I’m upset with but know all I can know about it. the other stuff I just don’t remember anymore, my brain is just not doing well today.
Thank you for any info.. I’m hoping to get some rest so I can search this but sitting at the computer just isn’t working right now with these allergies. Lots of nonfun stuff today…but hey at least I have some answers even if it will take a few to figure them out lol.
in reply to: Parathyroid help… #1061753I will let you know how this all works out. I am going to call his dr’s office today for a list of Endo’s that are in his plan. Then I will research each of them and see what their specialty is.
FIL has gone too long with this problem and I’m just happy that it is being taken care of.
in reply to: We’ll see update 5/24 Thyroid concern… #1061884Went to a Rhuematologist yesterday. She is running anther thyroid panel which I find to be odd since I just had one two weeks ago and everything was perfect.
She said this could still be a thyroid issue. She is also testing me for more autoimmune diseases and testing my Lyme again. She thinks Thyroid or Lyme at this point.
My middle toe is now in pain, it seems to be the joint. She says I have a lot of tension in my muscles on my shoulders as well and for the 2nd time in my life my blood pressure was a bit high. (1st time was when I was told I gained 10 pounds in 2 weeks during a pregnancy visit. I was like you dont tell a woman that BEFORE you check her blood pressure!, they retested 20minutes later and it was fine tho lol!)
Guess we’ll see. I find it hard to belive that with a TSH of 1.49 that this is thyroid related.
in reply to: lost sex drive #1061780i agree with ski.
What are your levels at ?
Are you on medicine for the Graves, or did you have RAI and are now hypo?I understand not wanting to see a dr. but I am not clear if your levels are stable or not.
in reply to: Giving birth with treated Graves #1061774I feel your dr’s are using the best approach. Graves’ disease is no joke even if your levels are proper for you I agree with Bobbi, the baby might have issues and these dr’s are knowledgable to know this which is a good sign they are taking precautions.
I have had 4 children. 3 of which were AFTER my diagnosis of Graves. I still have a thyroid and was not on medicine during any of the births since during the pregnancy my thyroid levels were at proper levels.
I have to say that an emergency can happen at any time, believe me I almost had 2nd child in the car and the 3rd in the elevator. you hear stories about women giving birth in weird places …well I am aware of how that can actually happen! When you are at 20minutes apart then all of a sudden go from 20 to 2 minutes apart with no preparation… whoow buddy it is scary!
I think the worst thing for any of us women in general regardless of having graves or not is that we don’t get the Delivery we wished for or hoped for. We feel it will be taken away or it was taken away from us. I feel that I was "given" the chance to experience the excitement of almost delivering right where everyone could see. At one point I was thrown onto the bed while I was laughing and two minutes later had a baby in my arms lol. We were all laughing so hard, because although it wasn’t planned that way it was funny and had a very happy ending.
I think your dr. telling you this is what should happen is a very good thing to say during your 3rd trimester after they have been watching you and will help prepare you so that YOU can know that although you aren’t getting the delivery you wanted to have you can create a new one and hope you get that. Sometimes we just can’t get what we want.
My 4th delivery, I was in the hospital at 9:30pm and the dr. said sorry you’re only 1cm dilated, you should go home. LOL while dh and I were laughing about how foolish this dr was about sending me home the nurse looked at the dr. and said "i know her, she no go, she been here before, she go fast, you watch, I prove it!". She was this Philippino woman who we knew from the other two deliveries from 03′ and 04 and it’s now 06′ …..
So at 12:36am dh said to the dr. you better catch the baby she only pushes once. The dr didn’t believe dh but the nurse knew! Well lets just say the dr. caught the baby and the next day came to me and said wow you only push once! I said next time you’ll believe the husband and the nurse right! LOLThey of course checked my levels with each pregnancy very carefully, even though I was in ‘remission’ they still checked and the dr’s were always there in case the babies were in need of help. Neonatologist had to look at the babies anyway because of the mecomium (bowel movement during delivery inside me) but all kids were just fine. They were all checked later on as well and so was I for any thyroid issues. You never know how things will work out… I had all of my kids naturally but was willing to have emergency surgery if something went wrong. I did ask for pain meds during the labor but my dh knew that I truly didn’t want them and told the dr’s to just say yes we will give them to you. It was my plan and my dh was able to help me with that. We tried to stick with the plan the best we could and the dr’s did what they had to do. I wouldn’t have had it any other way.
The dr’s are specialist in the field that they do, ask your questions if you have them and be comfortable with what they are doing but know that they are looking out for that baby and for you and whether it be in water or on the table it is your health and your babies health that is the most important thing. If there is a complication the faster they can get to that baby the better. If you are in water those few seconds could mean a lot.

is reference to what? Did they do a papsmear and this is what it said?in reply to: RAI scheduled May 18 – Should I? #1061844I can’t say about the RAI, I chose not to have it BUT I also went into remission after having the meds and then getting pregnant with 2nd child and being able to maintain that with no meds and having 3rd child.
After 3rd I had a bad relapse but was able to get back into remission and having a 4th child and am still in remission.I have a 16 year old son (born 1995), it is not easy with a teen girl or boy doesn’t matter.
I am concerned that this whole time the dr. wasn’t able to get you in range for your TSH. Why did they wait so long or was it due to ins. issues? Sorry to hear you are having health issues with no ins.
What about state ins., if you need some info on it I can help if you aren’t feeling up to finding it yourself. just let me know your state.
Do the kids have health ins?
You didn’t mention a husband or an ex so not sure if he is around, if so does he have ins. for the kids, could he get ins.?I don’t mean pry and yuo dont have to answer these questions to me, but do answer them to yourself and try to find out a resource to get better care.
in reply to: THINNING HAIR and HAIR LOSS #1062829Your hair will grow back! Be sure to read the thread BEFORE mom does your hair. The reason I say this is because we have a natural shed of hair some more so than others even without the GD coming into play. Also it being long will look like so much more than there really is. Example: I have 2 feet of hair from forehead to the end, if one of those hairs is on the floor is looks like a few strands and some would swear it is if they didn’t know it came from someone who had 2 ft. When my hair was 3 ft it looked like there was even more hair! lol
I am not saying that you are not looking your, I am saying that you have to add that on top of our natural cycle and tell mom about it so that she knows to treat your hair kindly AND to help her determine how many strands of hair to highlight since there are so many coming out. The highlighting itself might damage your head of hair even further so talk with her first before actually doing it. If she is a stylist she will know what to do IF she should do it at all, if she isn’t at least she will know what your hair is going through before she makes that decision to touch it. Maybe just a dusting cut(that is when it’s just the very very ends of the hair that is taken off, basically it’s the split parts and no one would know you had any trimming at all).
When you go to the store, look where the brushes are, you will see shower caps(probably on the bottom shelf), there should be something there called a bed cap, hair bonnet, satin bedtime cap.. can be called anyone of those or something else but related to it.
It looks like a shower cap but it’s not plastic. They should only be a few dollars. (walmart, walgreens, target)
Good luck with your blood test today

in reply to: We’ll see update 5/24 Thyroid concern… #1061881Well my Thyroid levels seem ok.
The inflammatory tests as well seem fine.TSH 1.48 (range: .40-4.50)
T4, free 1.3 (range: 0.8-1.
T3, free 2.8 (range 2.3-4.2)I thought that maybe I was going hypo but it doesn’t seem that way even though I have many symptoms. Not sure what to do now. Guess we’ll see what dr says…I got the results before I was suppose to ” title=”Very Happy” />
in reply to: question about dry skin #1061878I am not sure what it is but for now I would take it seriously and treat your skin very very well.
First do not use any lotions. A lotion is water based and draws moisture out of the skin.
You want an emollient which will keep moisture in the skin.
If there are no cuts/scraps/open wounds of any kind and please make sure you look between your toes, then you do not need to use any bacitracin.
After a shower is the best time to use plain vaseline on your feet until you can find out what it truly is.
Showers should not be hot nor should you put your feet in anything hot like a hot tub or hot bath. AGain this is just until you find out what it is. Heat irritates skin and hot water is not helpful.Warm water helps open up skin, so soaking your feet for a few minutes is good. Once finished, wipe them and put vaseline on them. Don’t put globs of it on, just a tiny bit at a time till you figure out how much to use so it’s not so slippery. Sit there for a few minutes then put COTTON socks on. The vaseline can wash off the cotton socks and the cotton absorbs sweat as well.
If you do not have sneakers with holes or vents in them (tiny little holes) then find a pair of thongs or sandals to wear so they don’t sweat. Sweat causing more irriatation and more dry skin.
Put the vaseline on as often as you can.
Make an appt with your general dr. asap and have them look at it. They will be able to determine if it is truly eczema or something related to GD and then guide you to the Derm if you need it.
I have eczema and my dd6 has severe eczema, it is not
in reply to: question about dry skin #1061876Do you have eczema? It’s never a silly question and it can be serious if not treated properly.
Have you seen a dermatologist for this or at least your general dr.? Did they find out what it is? are you using hydrocoritsone oinment?
What have you tried.?
Sorry this is short and fast but on the go but wanted to put my two cents in before I went to vet for my doggie! I’ll check in soon while I’m in waiting room.
in reply to: Young Woman with Graves’ (Getting Worse?) #1061922Welcome!
I just read your thread and wanted to say that your last post said that will have blood work in 6 weeks and see dr. in 4 months. I think that you need to speak with dr. about make an appt sooner so that nothing gets "forgotten". Your levels aren’t stable, you are having issues with anxiety which they do not know if it’s from GD or not so monitoring you a bit closer would be better. I understand that the dr. will see the blood work in 6 weeks but that isn’t looking at you personally and seeing how you are doing. If you can afford the extra co pay, I’d make sure to schedule an appt for around the time you have your bloods done, continue to keep the 4month appt as well. At least you have the appt and can cancel it if you dont need it. -
