in reply to: New here…TSH low & waiting on endo appt. #1067992
Hi Mary, my endo appt was alright. He said my thyroid didn’t feel enlarged, had me swallow and then did some kind of reflex thing with my arm. He said that did seem to be a bit fast. I’m not sure what that means :” title=”Question” />
They took blood so he could do his own labs. His nurse called and said my labs were “perfect”. I asked her to fax me a copy, but haven’t gotten it and need to call and remind her tomorrow! The antibodies test (TSI) takes a little more time. He will send those results in a letter along with his recommendations.
I guess it’s good, but I still wonder why I’m having all of these symptoms?! Specifically, why is my hair falling out?? That is probably the thing that bothers me the most. I went to my GP and asked him for a full physical. I don’t think I’ve had one in several years and I think they recommend one annually if over 40 which I am. Sigh. I had a minor meltdown in his office and told him I just don’t feel good….don’t feel right if that makes sense. I will go back next week for labs there and then he will do the physical. So basically, I have no news. =0)
Do you think you are allergic to the tapazole? It seems a lot of people are. How are your eyes doing? Have you been to the ophthalmologist yet?
I appreciate your following up with me. I hadn’t gotten on the board in awhile because school is really taking everything I have!
Take care,

My appt. with the endo is Oct. 20th. I’m ready!I know what you mean….as I think back, I realize I had been having this white discharge in my eyes on a regular basis and they were red, irritated and I couldn’t see well with my contacts. Also very sensitive to light.
Let me know what your ophthamologist says. I hope you are beginning to feel better. Take care and keep in touch!!

in reply to: Sweaty, stinky feet #1067948Hello,
Are you thinking of this maybe? Hyperhidrosis – excessive or profuse sweating (Stedman’s Medical Dictionary, 2008.)
I think this affects people in different areas; underarms, hands and feet. Good luck.

It does sound similar. What symptoms were you having? I hope the tapazole will help you. The only thing I would add is you might consider going to an ophthamologist rather than an optometrist. That was a suggestion made to me and thought I would pass it along. It does make sense to see an eye dr. who is familiar with Graves. Keep us posted on how you’re doing.
Take care,

I really appreciate your response. If there is something going on with my eyes, I wouldn’t want to make it worse! I haven’t been diagnosed with anything yet. Once I go to the endo and see what comes of that, I will attend to my eyes next and get an ophthamologist who is familiar with these situations. I’ll keep you posted!
Thank you also for the tips for helping with my hair issues. Is that a prescription shampoo? I know I’ve seen something at the drugstore called Nioxin, I think? Have you heard of that? It is distressing when my hair seems different in every way than it did before. I realize as we age some thinning occurs, but surely nothing like this?? Yikes. ” title=”Confused” />
Take care,

in reply to: New here…TSH low & waiting on endo appt. #1067985Hi Kimberly,
Thanks for responding. I think what you said about an ophthamologist was an excellent idea. I need to check into that. None of the optometrists I’ve gone to in the past couple of years have made a connection between dry eyes/blurry contacts/redness and irritation with anything other than, well, just dry eyes. I’ve never been prescribed any kind of drops or ointment either. If it is Graves, then definitely I need to go to someone who is knowledgeable in that area. I’ll keep you posted. Thanks again!
Take care,

Thank you for responding and for the support. I will be glad to get to the endo and see what he says and thinks. I will keep in touch and let you know.
Thanks again and take care!

in reply to: New here…TSH low & waiting on endo appt. #1067983Hi Nancy,
Thank you for responding.
I have another question. When you said my hair falling out is Graves’ and the changes in my hair are hypo, what does that mean? Can someone be hyper and hypo at the same?
I’m going to ask the endocrinologist if he will do a full physical with bone density scan, et al. He is with a diagnostic clinic so I’m hoping they will check everything.
When you asked if I was on any type of medicine, do you mean a beta blocker? No, I don’t have any new medicines.
I appreciate your reminding me to take it easy on ME. Thank you for listening. : )

Hi and thank you for responding. Sorry just now getting back to you.
About my TSH : It was 0.306 and they gave me normal range as 0.450 – 4.500. I have since seen somewhere else that the normal range was lowered and starts at 0.03 or something. The nurse did say every lab has different ranges which makes it difficult to understand what is what. I called back and asked for my T3 and T4 levels and the nurse said T4 – 7.7, T3 – 23, T7 (is there a T7?) – 1.8.
As far as my sister goes, she said her dr. checks her thyroid levels every year and they are okay. Who knows what happened there!
Yes, I think you are right, I’ll wait to see the endocrinologist and see if he can come up with anything.
Thanks so much once again for taking the time to write back.
Melanie
