    Hi Dawn,
There is always so much going on with thyroid issues. I agree, find an endo you are comfortable with. Maybe their bedside manner is not the best, but in the end you have to be able to trust your doctor because of the course of treatment that will be presented to you. If the problem is your thyroid and it gets treatment perhaps some of your other issues may be lessened. First, find your doc then find the most important problem and start working on a fix for it. Take one day at a time. Let time help you heal. Best of luck finding a endo. Hugs and prayers, Priscilla

    Hi Karen,
I had RAI and was very happy with my choice (although now I may be out of remission after 27 yrs). You have to consider the possible side effects of both radiation and surgery. As has been posted several times, if you opt for surgery, please choose a surgeon who is VERY familiar with Graves and thyroid issues. There is no quick fix with either. Your body takes time to readjust to yet another change. For me it was the better part of a year. Don’t let that worry you though. Right now you have to concentrate on a method to get better. Once you have made a choice – go with it – do something to take your mind off your illness – read, sew – you made the choice for better health – give your mind and body a break from the stress and you will heal. Be patient, keep us informed. Hugs and prayers, Priscilla

    Welcome Suzzanne!
You came to the right place! Everyone needs a support group when dealing with health issues. Things may not be fixed right away, but have patience. Take one day at a time and try not to stress. Sometimes health issues are “hurry up and wait”. Organs take time to adjust to meds. If you could, print what Bobbi wrote and keep it handy. It will help a lot. Hang in there, we are right beside you, all of us trying to understand and deal with similar situations. Hugs and prayers, Priscilla:)

    Good Morning!
Bobbi that was a wonderful explanation of the basics! I was treated for Graves in ’85 and the info back then was not as patient friendly. Thank you for making it much more understandable for all of us going forward. Take care:) Priscilla

Good suggestion – please see a doctor! In addition, when choosing drops, please be sure to check the country of origin for a US manufacturer. Another reason to keep the eye lubricated is to prevent a detached retina. I have been having some issues with that even though every morning when walking my dogs the tears run down my face and it is not from allergies. I was treated for Graves in 1985. Take care:)

    Dear Kimberly,
I have a follow up appt with my Internist in 6 weeks, however I am trying to find an Endo with thyroid experience who is covered by my health care plan. To date the only Endo in my area(central NJ) with thyroid experience is not in my network – seeing the dr would all be out of pocket. I am leaning toward paying out of pocket to get a real read on my tests. However, would you please provide me with the exact type of thyroid bloodwork I need to have in order to see where this is really going. I am sure you respond to the same type of question many times a day, however I could not find the answer on your site. Thank you for your kindness,:)
