    Hi Laree,

Those drops sound interesting and the ingrediants too, wouldnt mind trying them out, do you have the name and are you in the US as I doubt they will be available in the UK? I would definitely give them a try, but monitor how you get on and any reactions or improvements etc.

    Hi,

yes my doc has sent a letter out to get me a faster appointment i was told today, so will hopefully be seen sooner. I just read an article about TED stating my symptoms and burning sensation:

    http://www.roycejohnson.ca/orbital_disease.html

The opticians just assumed its blepharitis, but that doesnt cause protrusion, they arent very knowledgeable and if they arent sure they diagnose you with what they do know. One of my friends was asked if she had double vision (she didnt), so was told she didnt have TED, but not everyone gets double vision so its not as simple as some opticians in the high street think. I dont have lid retraction, just twitching, maybe thats because i am a recent sufferer and its only been a few months. My lids are swollen and this may be the ‘hot phase’.

Red veins can be caused by the dryness caused by TED as it affects the tear film and its quality. I know not everyone gets the same symptoms and or severity. Will be good to see the specialist.

If anyone has good recent experience with TED and its symptoms similar to mine then please feel free to send me a pm. Thanks.

I know this is an old thread but I too have noticed more of an increase in floaters and diff varieties since my TED developed and with the dryness and irritation. I too hope that with time they will subside like the TED.

I havent had my first endo appointment yet so will mention my throat. Also I dont have much eye tearing, mainly dryness, stinging, itchiness and redness and blurry vision with slight eye protrusion and pain and headaches. Will be seeing the eye specialist in a month or so for the first time also as my optician referred me. I do seem to get exhausted easily and sleep for hours but not taking any meds as yet.

    Thanks Shirley.

I have heard its maybe best to let things progress naturally without meds, but like you mention, if the nerves are at risk then I guess you have to weigh the benefits from the side effect risks. I have some friends who lost some hair and put on weight they cant get off and had the moon face too and then theres the brittle bones risk. Its a lot to take in as a newbie.

Thanks all. Just seen some pics on the net and some do have red eyes and keratoconjunctivitis can happen in some patients, around 30% in some cases.

Can someone tell me if this is normal for reassurance?

Some — a few– of us have to use those drops three or four times an hour. The key is keeping the eyes lubricated and not feeling gritty.

My eyes also seem to ‘drink’ the eye drops as i also put them in several times each hour. Has anyone used the steroid drops yet or had them intravenously?

Has your daughter been checked for thyroid eye disease as itchy eyes is one of the symptoms and she will need to see an eye doc for confirmation and also regular check ups if she does indeed have it. I am sorry to hear that people so young are experiencing thyroid problems, its heartbreaking.

Does TED cause blurry vision also?
