Peter, Thank You so much. That ment a lot coming from the president of this site. That was really thoughtful of you and I thankyou so much. I know your a busy guy and to take time out to comment on our posts is amazing. You and your facilitators are great and this site is the reason I have the strength and the determination to beat this. I vent and moan a lot but at the end of the night I go to bed with a smile on my face because I know I have a place to go to when I need someone that REALLY does care and UNDERSTAND how im feeling and what Im going through. Thanks again, for all this site is and does for all of us on here it’s truly a blessing for me as others…

Sue: I love your bluntness, it is the truth plain and simple

Emily- I thankyou for saying I have been helpful for you. The last thing I want to do is break that for you. I am just stressed out. I am in the process of moving. I don’t actually have a place yet. LOL. I have been calling around and stuff. My mom bought a new house and I was just going to move with her again but after tonight I just don’t think its best for me. She just does NOT understand me at all. Its hard when the people that know you and understand you the best only know you as Krystal or Hopeful23 yet make you feel like such a strong person and cared for.

Good night

I am hypo now as you now and I still experience hand tremors if I start to worry, get upset, think outlandish thoughts. Do something or think of something that takes me back to a state in which things were worse etc. Try to calm down. Keep a log etc. You should be better as soon as your hypo. Mine are gone completly unless I have a anxiety/panic attack.

Take Care

Okay,

I called and talked to my endo. He has reassured me that IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MY THYROID OR MY SYNTHROID. He said it is related to my anxiety/panic/stress disorder. I called my GP and she also agress and told me if it gets too bad I can get a mouth gard made by my dentist. However, gave me ways to help subside it and recognize it when i am doing it …. I feel better about that but not completly satisfied with the answer. I guess I am always looking for the worst. I need to just relax. LOL. I have been super tired the past few days. Ugh.

Hope everyone is doing better today than yesterday

Congrats on your surgery date and confidence in your surgeon Hope all goes well and you have a healthy, safe, quick surgery/recovery. My friend took a solid 8 days off work and was happy she did that. She is also a nurse.

Keep us updated as you can

Hi welcome to the BEST SUPPORT FOUNDATION EVER

Here is my story. I had RAI May 12 2009. DID not experience soar throat, swollen salivary glands, eye issues, or the 3 day confinement. I was lucky I guess. However its not uncommon to have those a few days after the RAI. I became hypo two weeks ago and was REALLY FEELING AWFUL. Im talking ‘wall banging, wall hugging’ awful. My fourth day on synthroid that all stopped. Every day has been a better day towards the OLD me. I was VERY hyperthyroid at time of diagnosis and was "lucky" to not have gone into thyroid storm. I had to choose RAI or SURGERY when I reacted really badly to both the TAPAZOLE AND THE PTU. I had symptoms that are not even listed on the side effects as well as the ones listed.

I chose RAI as my treatment option because when I went in for my TT consultationn I literally ran out of the room crying and screaming RADIATION NOOOOOOW. LOL. If i had to go back and do it all over again, RAI would still be my treatment choice. It was very very good to me and I am a sensitive person when it comes to medication and treatments. RAI and Synthroid has given me hope, strength and a better future. I really wish you the best of luck at this hard time. Its confusing and it SUCKS but as long as you stay active in your endo and your research it will be OKAY in the end. I can’t promise roses but it will be worth it. Your endo and you will decide what treatment option will benefit you the most. As far as a goiter I didn’t start getting that until my levels were in thyroid storm area. My goiter is almost completely gone. I was choking on it for a little while but it wasnt causing trauma to my esphogus or me so we let the RAI due its job:)

Make sure you write all your questions/symptoms down so your endo can see everything your dealing with

vintage,
I have been on synthroid for almost two weeks now and I started feeling better on day 4. I am on 75mcg as a starting dose. I dont get bloodwork until the last week in August. I don’t know if 75 will be ‘MY DOSE’ however as of right now its doing well for me. I am not hugging or banging into walls like i was. I do have anxiety still but I had anxiety before all this so thats expected I guess. I am 100% HAPPY with my RAI decision. I had ZERO side effects. I didn’t have the swollen/soar throat or salivary glades. I didn’t have an upset stomach. I wasn’t STUCK in my room for any amount of time and it worked in 2 months. I am feeling more like me everyday. I still get tired but its not like its all day. It will be towards 12’midnight and ill be like dang im really tired all the sudden and ill go to bed and wake up and start my day fresh and with my lil pill. Not to mention I didn’t have the surgery side effects (ie. infection, scar, etc) now, some people that is their least concern when its cancer, or such a big goiter they are choking on it all day. Its really just whats right for you and your specific case. I had a goiter that I chocked on but it wasnt taking over my throat to where it was putting me or my body at an emergency state. I am glad my updates are helping you with any uncertainity that you may have. Please keep in mind everyone is different and I am very sensitive to emotions/medications/life so when I was feeling awful it may not have been awful to you. LOL…

Okay, Thank you both so very much.

My dose was 14.6 and I went hypo in less than two months so Im hoping I have NO THYROID LEFT WHAT SO EVER. I am currently on Synthroid and I sure hope they find my DOSE. I hear a lot of people say they have not found my correct dose yet and Im like ohh, is this what I have to look forward to. I sure hope not and if it is I hope its not too bad or deblitation.

Okay,
What happens if you HAVE A LOT OF THEM…. LOL. Im not sure but my anxiety has NOT SUBSIDED. I can’t take any of the medications due to my low threshold to seizure activity. I don’t know how else to treat it. Cognitive thearpy helps TO AN EXTENT but not to a point that I am "cured".
