in reply to: 4 weeks since RAI update #1068653
Lacie,
I had my RAI May 12 08. Had my first blood draw July 22 still read slightly hyper at .01 TSH then July 22 I had gone a week early cause I felt really weird. Mad, irritated, cold, pale, sloooooooow heart rate and my TSH was 85.3 so i was prbly hypo for about a lil under a month….
in reply to: Weigh-in (just for fun) #1068674Hey, this is probably going to make me depressed but ill chime in…..
Pre-graves 112lbs. I was one of the ones that actually gained weight and shot up to 160 then when my graves was at its worse I was 82lbs. I lost the weight within A few months but it really plummeted from 115-92 and down in about a month… Before I got my RAI I was like 125-130lbs. I gained 20lbs since my RAI which if you do the math puts me at 145-150. However, since I have been on synthorid I have lost 8lbs
” title=”Smile” /> I am walking around my neightborhood with my IPOD and I STARVE MYSELF……HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA.
1. I watch my carb intake
” title=”Sad” />
2. only eat when hungry and its usually salads, fruits and vegetables now” title=”Smile” />
3. Walking/jogging. HAAAAAAATE RUNNING…(sorry lacie)” title=”Smile” />
Hopefully I can hit the lotto and just hire a chef, personal trainer and plastic surgeon to clean up the rest….HAHAHHA..
Good Luck to everyone on this weight journey

Krystalin reply to: Weight Gain – Oh NO!!! #1068875Oh My-
This is too funny. Im telling ya. I have gained 20lbs on RAI. I lost five since I have been on the synthroid but obviously have a good amount to go.
Lacie- seriously, are YOU complaing about 5-6 lbs..HAHAHHAHA. You make me laugh sweets… I wish that was my problem. I love you
” title=”Smile” /> Im sure you will loose it all the day you can run again. Hahah.
As for the rest of you, I guess what I heard was really watching carb and sugar intake. My friend is hypo and thats what works best for her out of EVERTHING she went from 120-170 because she ate NORMAL and then went back to the low carb low sugar and is skinnier than ever before. Im going to try that

Have a great day everyone
Krystalin reply to: Risk of Thyroid Storm Question #1068904Ewmb,
Yes, you do have a ‘higher’ chance for TS but my endo said its usually when the dumping starts. He told me to watch for MAJOR changes within my first like few days to three weeks. I was at thee lowest tsh and highest free t3 and t4 when I did RAI. The radiologist wanted to push if off but couldnt cause I didn’t respond to the ATDs. I took a chance and luckily I didn’t go in TS..I didn’t really experience excessive symptoms until week 5-6. I had an awful time then. I was a shaking, tremory, weak, heart racing MESS. I was certian I was doomed but then it just got easier. It really just depends (i think) on your dose, how much thyroid hormone your thyroid had stored, your body’s response etc. Stay strong and keep hope. It will get easier. It’s frustrating I know, but at least your on your way to a healthier life. I wish you the best of luck. Please keep us updated and call your Primary, Endo, or local ER if you feel worse. Thats what they are there for. I have you in my prayers and thoughts.-Hopeful23
(Krystal)in reply to: How much Tapazole is too much? Results tomorrow… #1068949Mongo26,
Yes, staying positive is the best thing you can do. Hopefully you wll be better VERY soon. You have a strong attitude towards this whole process and although its harder more days than some try to recognize ANY improvements. It always helped me! Just remember to take days to relax

I went THRU all this. I yawned, my heart rate was 52 and I was doing jumping jacks in my room to get my heart rate up and my breathing faster. Its signs of hypo. Its OKAY. My resting heart rate right now on synthroid is 64. Before I was hyper my resting was about 60-65. I called my endo in fear I was going into cardiac arrest. He asked me on the phone if I was experiencing "shortness of breath" and I said no why? He said you sound it now and I had to explain to him I was doing jumping jacks in my bedroom as I was waiting for him to returnn my call to keep my heart rate up cause I thought it was stopping. LOL.
He paused, I know he wanted to LAUGH. My endo REALLY gets his money worth with me, Ill tell ya. This is a GOOD SIGN. Our bodies are starting to return to some type of normalcy. Be happy rejoice

in reply to: RAI time frame for worsening from die off? #1069001Lacie-Its only been three weeks… it took me two months and I had a monster dose of 14.6. Remember this happened to me. I thought I was hypo and was borderline hyper still. You A. Shouldnt be running B. You had a smaller dose so it could be your in dumping mode now. My dumping didnt happen till week 3.. I wouldnt get discouraged RAI doesnt work that fast if it did a lot of people would be in TS and I would have been one. It can take up to 6 months to take full effect. I know how anxious/nervous you are I was right were you are 2.5 months ago. Continue to chart your pulse and symptoms for DARASTIC change and call your endo with any uncertainty. When that happened to me i was hypo my next test results.. stay strong and STOP RUNNING. YOU NEED TO HEAL DARLING LACIE…..

hi hubb:) welcome to a great foundation. I just want to say a little bit too. I have graves disease and a nodule on my left lobe. I had to RAI due to the side effects of tapazole and PTU. I am now hypo and feeling a little better everyday. Also- another way graves is detected is how evenly your thyroid absorbs the iodine when you got your uptake scan. If your whole thyroid was glowing and not just a part or some thats also an indication of graves. I hope you seek all your information. Keep us updated:)
in reply to: UGH, ROUGH DAY AT THE OFFICE…. #1069027So, I think I just needed to eat LoL.
I have not eaten really in three days and today I was feeling awful so I ate a sandwhich, chips and choc chip cookie dough and have crazy energy lol. I think my body was hungry. Maybe its just a sugar rush who knows
