One more thing. I still struggle with exhaustion. I take Flax see oil and some other supplements. But some days I don’t have the energy to do much. It comes and goes. Anyone know how to overcome this lack of energy?
    Thanks

    Shirley:
I had a graft from the palate in my mouth. I was awake for the procedure as they instructed me what to do. The worse part was the healing of the graft site. It was quite painful; I was on antibiotics for a couple of weeks. But it has healed nicely now. Just saw the doctor for a followup. He was considering doing a tweak on the upper eyelid, but right now it is a wait and see. I will see him again in January. All in all, I very pleased with the results. Not perfect, but am thankful for my vision back. I wish the best to you. Keep us posted.

    Hi Shirley:
Am replying about the OD. I had muscle surgery last November. I elected not to do the OD for various reasons. My eye does bulge, but not that bad. I did some research on the internet, and found people that did not do the OD had better success with the double vision issue. I just had the lower eyelid surgery 2 months ago. I am pleased with the results so far. My double vision is completely gone and the eye doesn’t look too bad. My vision has improved so much, I only need glasses now for reading. He is monitoring the protopsis and mine has been stable for over a year now. John

Saw my eye doc today. He did a lot of measuring and looking in the eyes. He felt that the eyes are stable, even though the TSI is on the high side. So if all goes well and stays the way it is now, I am looking at my first surgery around October. Of course there are three surgeries, the first being the orbital decompression. So, am looking forward to the time when I have my single vision back. Have a great day. John

    Hi Shirley:
So glad to hear you are doing so well and your double vision is all but gone.
I am certain that it is my anterior muscles that are affected, as my eye stares in a downward position. I also have
gotten use to the head tilt back.
Best of luck to you and for a speedy recovery. I am back to the endo on Monday and then the following week the
    opthamologist.

How are you feeling after about 1 week? Can you tell a big improvement? I am interested in how you do as I am having the same surgery later on in the year. Hope you are feeling well. Take care. <img decoding=” title=”Very Happy” />

Just wanted to give my two cents worth. I had a TT April 2007. Surgery lasted about 2 hours. In recovery room maybe 1 hour, then off to my room in the hospital. I spent one night in the hospital. I had very little pain after the surgery. The only complications I experienced was a loss of my voice for about 3/12 weeks due to my left vocal cord was paralized. I had to go to and ENT doctor who put a scope down my throat to confirm that. My voice slowy came back. My scare is barely noticeable, maybe 2 inches at the most. I do now have TED, due to the Graves. I felt so much better after the surgery, I couldn’t believe how bad I felt before. My hear no longer pounded out of my chest, and I wasn’t burning up all the time. So I wish the best for you. Just make sure you ask all the questions as others have posted here. Best of luck to you:)

    Shirley:
Yes, I am on a dose of prednisone that starts out high and each week, works it way down to a lower dose. I am now in the last week of the lower dose. I have not seen a neuro opthamologist. My opthamologist is very aware of Graves disease and TED.
He performed all the tests on my eyes, and took measurements, so I feel pretty confident with him at this time.

    Hi Shirley and Kimberly
Thanks for your replies and good feedback. Two more days of the prednisone, then a visit to the Endo in about a week.
As far as the eyes, the redness and swelling is mostly gone. I of course still have the double vision, which obviously is
caused by the scarring on the eye muscle. Am a bit concerned that after I quit these meds, it will come back. Am taking
supplements for inflamation, Flaxseed and MSM, which i have read does help. My Endo has not ordered any tests prior to my next visit. Not sure why, maybe he wants to see me first then order the tests. I have a follow up visit with my Opthamologist in October. I am sure I will have to get a new prescription for my prisms. The glasses worked for a while, then the eyes changed. Now they seemed to have gone back just a bit. So I am thinking maybe a small change in the lens will help me see
clearer. I feel ok in the mornings, but by mid afternoon, I feel lethargic. I am guessing it is the prednisone that is making me feel that way. I take afternoon naps that helps me get through the day; and yes, the prednisone makes me want to eat constantly. Have gained about 5 pounds, not a good thing. Shirley, I must have a very similar eye problem as yours. I cannot stare straight ahead or upward in one eye. It is weird, the muscle seems to change throughout the day. Sometimes it looks like it is straight on, then as I get tired, it seems to pull downward. I can still drive fairly good, but do not drive on interstates any longer. Is the eye muscle surgery painful, is it done in the office or in a hospital. I have read that some people are awake so they can tell the surgeon when the eye is in line. So much info to take in. I only wish I had known 4 years ago when I started having these problems I would have been told what I had. Have a wonderful day. John <img decoding=” title=”Very Happy” />

Thanks Kimberly for the reply and support. I do have good days and bad days. I try to stay positive as much as possible.
I am finding out that this disease affects everyone differently and not at the same process. I do feel it might be stablizing,
the eyes are not as stiff. It should be easier though getting answers from all the doctors I had to go to. No one seemed to
know where to go next. Was a very frustrating route to just get where I am today.
I am located in Florida, would like to go to the conference, but don’t think I can this year.
    Thanks so much
    John
