Glad to hear that you are feeling better. I too am tired of this but when I think back to how far I’ve come I feel a little more tolerant, not better, but tolerant. I hope that my heart rate is dropping. It does things like 108 then a few minutes later 85. It seems to have no pattern. I just keep thinking it the little cells fighting back one way or the other:)

    Keep up the good vibes.

Does that mean that if I already have life insurance, as I do, that I am fine to keep it? We have it through our alumni association from college. Is this type of thing one of the things that is being discussed for change in the Health Care/Insurance Reform? It doesn’t seem fair especially if you have it controlled.

    Hi,
I haven’t heard of that at all. My state has an insurance commissioner. Look on the web for your state and find out how to get in touch with them to see if this is right. Also you can check with them on the business complaints about the company.

So glad that you have been able to find a new avenue to try. Did you ask the compounding pharmacist if you actually need a separate new scrip for this new formulation? Just wondering, I try to file tidbits away in my head for times I might need them.

I have a bb in the house but don’t really want to take it. I may have to since I’m off the methimazole. We’ll see. I have lived through a lot and hopefully this will be the last of the worst in a few weeks time. Glad to hear that you are well.

I am off the medication for now. Will contact my personal endo on Monday. I was on the methimazole again to help ease me until we find out if my RAI was successful. I will probably just suffer through instead of trying to find a solution to the methimazole problem. I did notice that this 5mg generic tablet is from a different maker than the one I was on last year. I have a feeling it may be one of the inactive ingredients that is bothering me. I may try and find out the ingredients to see if there is a big difference. There is from the brand name. I can only find one of the listings online; for the one I have now. The other manufacturer doesn’t have theirs available that way.

I am just itchy right now and bemoaning the fact that I had to try and go back on this at all. I am putting on the pounds daily and can’t exercise really yet so I will probably have to get serious about my weight watchers again. I have decided to put that off until Tuesday as Monday is my 46th birthday! Hope that is a good day.

Thanks for asking. How are you feeling now? Have you experienced any of the dumping effect yet? I read some really old posts, had to google to get them, and read that one endo explained that as each cell dies it releases hormone and I think that I am experiencing this more than most.

Thanks for the information Peter. I have found that if I search google with the topic and ngdf bulletin board I get some things.

Tried to use the archive search engine again today and still couldn’t get it to respond. Is there something that my computer should be set to etc. to make it work? I can search the current posts.

    Hyperm,
Glad to hear that you have made it through the night. I was really worried about you. Sounds like you and your family are dealing with things even though as you said it’s messy and tiring. Here’s hoping that you have a non-eventful day today.

    Hyperm,
Call your surgeon or your Endo in the morning. Let them know you are having these feelings. You are having great hormonal changes and you may need to have your blood levels checked.Your thyroid controls so many things including other hormones. You shouldn’t discount this as all mental fatigue. I will say a prayer for things to become clearer for you and your family. I haven’t had the personal problems you have had and will not say that I understand all of it. I am a good bit older than you and will say that you deserve the best now, you should not keep waiting if it’s not necessary. I didn’t think this way when I was younger and felt like I had to sacrifice for others. Put yourself first when at all possible. I know with little children it can be hard. I have learned from my daughter, who is autistic, and from Graves, that simple pleasures are the best but life’s irritations can be blown out of proportion if you can’t think about them clearly. Sometimes time is the best medicine but I don’t think you should wait to let someone medical know about these feelings.

Take care and hug your kids all you can.

    Joy,
I don’t know the answer to your direct question but I would write that doctor a personal letter or e-mail and ask for an explanation. That is not very professional to tell you you can wait six months for a question about a test result. I hope that your physician would answer that question if he were made aware that you had it. Sounds like the front desk was wrong on this one to me.

    Rhonda,
Will be thinking good thoughts for you. If you end up going the route of the nicotine gum at some point I’ve seen some great coupons for that in the past. Maybe the manufacturers have some on their websites. I know it’s expensive. We’ve done smoking cessation classes at work several times as part of our wellness program. I know that you will need support. See if your insurance has some materials that they will give out. The one that covers our work has books etc. that they give out for "free". Of course you’ve paid for this so ask for it if you need it. North Carolina has a hotline that is free from the state for smoking cessation. See if your state has one.

Sorry about the Lupus diagnosis. I am sure that you are glad to know what’s going on. Your rheumatologist sounds good. I have to get back to one. I have had fibromyalgia for 14 years and now have some type of arthritis in my fingers as well as osteoporosis from the Graves. Watch the prednisone or any steroid over time if you can. My mom had to take it for years for her eyes and it gave her osteoporosis earlier than she might have gotten it.

Tears can be cathartic if you have time. Sounds like you’re busy a lot with little ones at home. I feel lucky to have had my troubles with teenagers who are great at chores.

    Kelly,
Try googling hashitoxicosis. Not sure I’ve spelled that correctly. There are some rare cases in which people have both antibodies. I think I remember reading about this before I was diagnosed in one of the books I have. I have tested negative for both types. I got the Graves diagnosis from my uptake and my scan results. My dad has Graves, my Mom Hashimotos, so I was very concerned about this. I’m still not sure that I haven’t been hypo at some points in my life.

    Hyperm,
Maybe this might be a good time to start a chore list for your eldest and you could include your husband with some smiley faces! My husband and I make lists all the time as our brains are getting older and we forget more often.
