Thanks everyone for responding to my post.

My endo wants me to come back in 3 1/2 weeks for more labs. So, I do feel "safe" right now (especially with my labs being all in range)

I think I get "shy" when I go to the endo’s office. I have all these questions in my head…then…out they go:(
I’m going to write a list of questions that I have and hold it in my hand my next visit.

James-I was dx in august of 07′. On 450mg of PTU at first..then slowly decreased all the way down to 50mg. This past Feb., I had another TS on the 50mg. I was on ATD’s for a total of 18 months straight..So, my T4 levels were not as high as the first TS. My endo put me on 200mg of PTU…and now here I am at 100mg. From what I read…if this happens…then your chances of remission are slim. I guess that’s why I got to the point of acceptance about RAI.

Thanks everyone. This has been such a tough few months for me. So thankful I found this site.

Next time I go in for blood work, I’ll ask about the CBC. (Strep throat sucks) Just want to feel better and the mom I used to me

Could not help but respond to this thread. I posted a subject like yours weeks ago. I KNOW EXACTLY what you are talking about. I’m still experiencing it. I notice it more at night…I guess because when I get in the bed and watch tv/read I’m not "upright". It seems that I notice it more the "flatter" I lay…Does that make sense? My Endo says that my thyroid is swollen and I have a goiter.

At night, try resting on two pillows. I think the more upright the better…at least until things get level:)

Maybe it’s that more blood is rushing or pumping out of that area? LOL Wish I knew all the answers…but I don’t:)

    Hang in there~

in reply to: Will it end? #1071575

I believe it will end:) That’s what I tell myself everyday. The extreme highs and lows of GD still baffles me. One day I will feel so good, that I will forget the I even have this terrible disease..Then other days, I feel so tired, scared, weak, and can feel my thyroid throbbing so to speak. I totally understand where you are at.

We just have to have faith in God that He will help us feel better (as long as we do the footwork). Hang in there…Wish I could be more encouraging, but I’m in the same place you are.

Thanks Ski. Love your feedback. I have one question left…As I looked back over the last ten years of my life..I kind of feel that I may have had GD earlier than just 20 months ago. I remember many phases in the past decade where I almost felt "manic" so to speak. I have never had mental health issues (except the craziness with GD:) Is it possible that some of my behavior habits in my 20’s could of been part of GD?

Also, does GD make you feel paranoid? LOL Times in my past that I have dealt with being paranoid…maybe this is part of a under DX GD? What do you think?

Thanks for your response Ski. Wow, lots of infomation:) I was not aware of a lot of things mentioned including being able to take ATD’s right after. I will be asking my Endo lots more questions the next time I’m there.

Last week when I met with Endo, he said that I needed to continue ATD’s till July to get stablized…then he would discuss RAI with me. To me it seems weird to get all my levels stablized-then come right off for RAI. I would rather do it now, but I have the knowledge that he has I guess.

Last year after my thyroid storm, I was on a very high dose of PTU 450mg, then tapered down over the following months. My liver labs were "out the roof" and my Endo was very concerned about. He told me not to drink any alcohol or take any tylenol…or anything ending in "ol"…..

Once my dose got to 100mg of PTU for a couple months..it started to get lower:)

As long as your getting regular labs, you should be fine:)

Thanks for all reply’s. So basiclly what I’m hearing is that it doesn’t really make you gain weight. It’s your individual eating habits that create weight gain. So, I guess if I make good choices with food and exercise, then it could be not so bad:)

I’m in the process of making a decision about RAI. Just don’t know if I have the strength for the highs and lows of the remission process.
