Yeah, they’re normally antihypertensives meds, antidysrythmias, and they lower your HR too. Usually given for people with heart failure or an MI but sounds about right for a person with Graves too. I know my BP and pulse were pretty high when my GD wasn’t controlled but they never mentioned being put on beta blockers. Were you given it because you had predisposed risk factors or something?

Also (I know you probably won’t have to worry about this since I assume your pulse is already high) just make sure you check your pulse periodically before taking it, it can drop it too low sometimes. Also it can cause orthostatic hypotension (light-headed when you stand) so just bear in mind those things.

Being a male (and apparently a minority on these boards), I can’t ever imagine the emotional hassle a women goes through during pregnancy, so I can’t help you out there, only offer my support. But, as someone with Graves, I do know where you’re coming from. All of our experiences and emotions are unique, but I know the struggle of being an emotional trainwreck and snapping at the littlest things, so I’ll just say my thoughts go out to you and I want you to know that we’re all here for you and can understand where you’re coming from if times get too tough.

And maybe I missed this answer, but are you not allowed to be on Methizamole while you’re pregnant?

    Hey,

My doctor recently took me off of methizamole (I believe it’s the same thing) after 2 years and let me tell you I’m in nursing school and it was so hellacious I had to take my meds again at least for a week so I could have the energy to study. I’m fixing to go to my doc tomorrow to see how it turned out but I know the answer =(

Before I new I had GD and I was an emotional trainwreck (my mom thought I was on crystal meth and took me to doc and that’s how we found out haha) but recently when I started getting a little "off" it helped me straighten myself out by knowing what was really causing it and just trying to double think things through. My girlfriend understood a little when I’d be more tired but I think what helped me with the emotional issues is just seeing it for what it is.

Or maybe your GD messed you up so bad you’re not even really writing this and you’re just laying in bed  haha

Kidding, anyways, not sure if that helps at all but yeah.

Hmm, not too sure on that one. I know with pretty much any illness, there are certain symptoms symptoms that are generally bound to be there and some are only in a select few. I know that goes with MI’s and chest pain, but I’m not sure how that fairs with Graves Disease. Seems like since it’s hormones affecting your body it would have some major side effects. I know I had massive weight loss, but I never had any problems with hair (maybe I just didn’t notice cause I’m a guy and I have short hair) But who knows. Sounds like maybe you’re just borderline or teetering on the edge or it or something. I don’t know the baseline thyroid levels so I’m not exactly sure what I’m looking at. But maybe there’s something else in your health history that’s causing some symptoms but not losing weight, not sure though. I know you just said you moved but look into an endocrinologist, I’m sure they’d have a much better answer than mine.
