I was on a higher dose of replacement orginally and over the years it has decreased substanially. I was wanting to renew my prescription in the late winter when it was discovered that my levels were running high. My tsh is only 55 currently so I was a little surprised that my T3 would be a concern to the doctor. When I was orginally diagnosed my tsh was 120 and after RAI went to 205 – so with levels where they are currently I am surprised at what I can do in a day! We didn’t discuss the "lumpy thyroid" so I didn’t know if this was something normal after RAI.

I was diagnosed in 2001 and received RAI the same year. I have been in remission until just a month ago. I am still waiting for a Thyroid Scan so I don’t know what my nest step is. My girlfriend has been 11 years and she still has had no problems since! It is a personal decision as to whether or not you go that route.

I had the Rai also and it was a interesting journey. The worst part for me was not being able to do things for my family and I missed my friends! My journey back to "normal" took many months I also hit a record high for levels with my doctor but it didn’t become a storm so I was fortunate. It takes lots of time and there is no quick fix for your daughter. Remember to give her lots of understanding because she will feel like she is losing her mind at times!

My doctor is referring me to a doctor that specializes in Internal Medicine, should he also understand GD? We do not have a Endo in our community and it is a three hour drive both ways for me to see one. I just want to be sure that I am receiving proper medical care.

I was treated with RAI eight years ago and I have once again come out of remission. I am prepared to do RAI again due to the past years have been good. I am not feeling well now and can hardly wait to get back to myself. It is true that the RAI does not cure the disease but it helps when dealing with some of the other issues. I have also been fortunate to not have had any eye issues other than they feel like there is gravel in them and are very tired. This journey is a personal one and when I went through it the first time I didn’t have the support of this group…what a blessing!

I always experience the quivering you were talking about when my graves acts up. It is like little tremors inside my chest/stomach. I think that it is part of the body running high and last time when I went into remission the tremors stopped. It was one of the signs I experienced to let me know that I had come out of remission! I tell my husband it is my fat burning tremor!!!

I was eight years in remission but back at it! Like you I was in denial that it was back. I don’t think this round for me will be as bad as the first time.
