can I relate!!!! I have had graves for years but didn’t start treatment until about 5 months ago. I had hard time with anti graves meds allergic problems about 6 weeks ago had throid surgery it was a great answer for me … been treated with synthroid and last week finally got to feel normal again and started my regular activities again slowly ha ha anyway was so depressed and apathtic for a time before and after surgery was feeling hopeless and thought I might never get back to normal again everyone told me to be patient but that is very hard when you are type A personality like me but I am sooo happy to be better and back to my life!!!!! was practically in bed for 4 monthes ugh!!!! Try and keep your head up and look towards the time when you will regain your health…god bless and thanks all on the web page for their help…

good morning I can totally understand your feelings I had a horrid time at first so weak couldn’t stand or walk a few feet was very difficult to deal with am type a personality and don’t take bed rest well went on both antithroid drugs had problems with both muscle cramps with meth…. and itching with ptu pushed hard for surgery and when I finally had the surgery felt better the day after which might have a lot to do with being off the anti throid meds… anyway try hard and be patient because it will be a while before you feel much better take one day a at a time… anyway had my surgery on 8/9 and am getting better slowily still weak and have a hard time with any tpye of activity my daughters are always telling me to take it easy but am sooo sick of this weakness and limitations it is difficult but it isn’t like we really have a choice so might as well try and rest and take care of ourselfs I wish you all the luck with what ever treatment you decied to have

this is a great question I think all of had that question in our mind but never thought to actually ask!!!! I am wondering if my anti rumatoid meds will effect at all??? probablily not !!! I am wondering , just a random thought since I get 2 immune diseases ( ra and graves) what else is waiting out there boy do I sound paranoid….. just a random thought had surgery about one month ago and am finally starting to get my act together still tired and now have pain from "bad" back…and my ra….. am starting a easy exercize plan to atrenghten my muscles it will be slow have been in bed a lot for the last 4 monthes….ugh!!! but I can see the light finally!!!! depression has a lot to do with all of our trips though graves it is hard to keep a happy thought when all is out of control and with the physical problems…. surgery was actually great for me but know the getting "well" process will be slow….bless all and hope we can all share and benfit from this web site by the way how old is this site???? thanks

the balance of mmi is hard and doesn’t usally respond very rapidily however your body can be crazy ..labs are not the end all to what is going on with ya!!! listen to your body I had surgery 2 mondays ago and started on .88 synthroid 3 days later had serious heart rate and b/p changed ended up in the hospital ( labs normal but tackacardic) so listen to your body and remmeber you are the customer with your dr. complain if need be aout lack of responce good luck

thanks shirley will take your advice was a little upset yesterday when I checked about my bills from the hospital I didn
‘t know that the hospital can charge you outpt when you spend the night in the hospital for observaton this means a lots more charges I will be responciable for I called dr. admitting me and the hospital to see if I can get this changed but all who are ignorant like me ha ha need to have a heads up especially if on medicare charges can be a lot higher……and when you don’t get much income can be a abig challenge have a great day

shirily am very interested in your post did you have a total throidectomy????? if so how is it possiable to not take a throid supplement???? I am newily operated on and had very bad reaction to starting synthroid see my post after surgery anyway am scared to start synthroid agin am waiting 1 week before starting (as per my endo) after reaction will see??? thanks for your next post with info ….by the way my endo told me that even if you have a total throidectomy some tissue remains secondardy to the parathroid glands presance surgeion must be creful to not damage these glands therefore can leave very small amout of tissue from throid???? hope you all are better can’t realize how horrid having graves is as a teenager so sorry for all the young people with it ugh!!!!!
