    Z-
I am not taking beta blockers, nor have I ever. I was unsure of what they were because my doctors have never mentioned the possibility of getting on them.
I actually get light-headed when I stand up most times, yet am not on the Beta Blockers…I assume it’s from having low blood pressure (which is usually somewhere about 90’s/50’s)???!!!

Thanks for your reply. I just have never heard of them before. I have had the palpitations, even while being hypo, but nothing too severe. Thanks again.

My endocrinologist suggested ATD for at least the first year. If that proved not to do much, then RAI was my next choice. I had the RAI in May 2006. I continued to stay hyperthyroid until October 2006, when I became severly hypo. I was then put on Levothyroxine (generic for Synthroid). Unfortunately, I am one who is still having to change doses every couple of months trying to get it right.

My first endo told me that the RAI did affect fertility, but when I went to a new endo for a 2nd opinion on treatment options, he confirmed that it did NOT affect fertility, and I am proof of that! I got pregnant with my 3rd child 7 months after RAI and he was a happy, healthy baby. I am now pregnant with my 4th child, so go figure!!!

Good luck to your significant other and your family!!

I found out I was hyperthyroid during the first trimester of my 2nd pregnancy and was put on PTU, which I didn’t have any problems with it, except the taste! It was awful!! My grandfather suggested that I press a small piece of bread around the pill and then swallow it and it really worked!!! Just my piece of advice!!

Thanks for your replies, Ski, as everything is helpful. I do need to lighten my load and put some things aside that can wait, which is hard for me to do when dirty dishes on the counter drive me nuts (for example)!! But, in reality, they can wait to be loaded into the dishwasher till another time. It is winter, too, which isn’t helpful when I can’t get outside with the kids (which they all love), so I hope springtime will bring more light and energy into my life!!! Again, thanks for your replies and advice!!–Christa

I just had my levels checked Monday 2/16 and saw my endo yesterday, 2/18…..my dose of levothyroxine was changed from .137 MG to .175 MG..which, yes I am HYPO now, since I had the RAI done a few years ago. There just seems to be no relief!!! Always changing doses, waiting 6 weeks for any changes….so on and so forth.
