in reply to: Joint/Muscle Pain – How common? #1174981
I’m currently taking 100 MCG of Levothyroxine. I went from 75 to 88, and now 100. I believe that we might have found the right dose and it took 5 months to find it, which felt like an eternity. I’ve only been feeling better since this last upped dose, so for about a month. I wish I had wise words! I think everyone can agree that we just have to try and be patient, no matter how difficult that may be. At least we know what’s wrong with us and that ultimately we will feel better. And try to be as honest as you can with your doctor about your symptoms. I can’t say I’m familiar with Armour.
in reply to: Joint/Muscle Pain – How common? #1174976I completely understand your fears. Being hypER was certainly no fun, and it was hard for me to imagine feeling worse. Well, after RAI I felt worse. Much worse. That being said, I feel great now. Better than I have in years. You will get through this!

in reply to: Joint/Muscle Pain – How common? #1174974I had RAI done at the end of May and started Levothyroxine after only 6 weeks. When I started becoming hypO, I felt exactly like you are describing. Every time I moved the “wrong” way, I would have horrible pain, almost like I was pulling a muscle. I guess it was cramping. I also had severe joint pain, especially in my knees. Anyway, my levels are finally starting to even out and I’m much better. I haven’t felt that way in about a month.
I am about 9 weeks post RAI (was done May 25). I didn’t really feel any big changes until this week, although my hair has been falling out quite a bit. From how I’m feeling, I’d say I’m going hypO (more tired, muscle cramps, lower heartrate, freezing all the time, weight gain, etc.). I had labs done last week, but I don’t have the numbers. I called him to discuss the results, because I have been feeling so awful. He told me is was alright to start Synthroid now, even though he had anticipated I’d start later in August. It seems like RAI is working quickly for me.
Also, I was only on Methimazole for about 6 weeks before RAI.
That’s my story so far!
in reply to: Muscle cramps #1173186Thank you for your response, Kimberly. I had labs done last week. I called my doctor, and he called back today. He didn’t give me the numbers, but he said he was looking at my Free T4 and judging by that, he figured I’d start Synthroid next month. After speaking, he gave me the green light to start now, even though they don’t normally start replacement hormone so quickly. Luckily he had given me a sample when I was in the office. My next labs are scheduled for September. I appreciate that he’s not only looking at the numbers, but also taking into consideration how I’m feeling.
Thanks again!
