in reply to: Feel like I’m going nuts….advice please #1062392
Hi All,
I just wanted to give you guys an update. I went to see a psychiatrist and I was prescribed a small dosage of Zoloft. I have reservations about taking these kinds of meds but I did start taking them this evening. Is there anyone out there that have gone on these medicines? I’m really nervous about all the side effects but they say this is supposed to help with the anxiety. I only see this as a temporary fix and want to purse getting down to the root of the anxiety issues which I believe is the activity left in my thyroid gland. I want to get a second round of RAI or have surgery to take it out. I’m so tired of the roller coaster ride I’ve been on for the last almost two years. I want to get my life back and my weight up. I look so sick. Thanks for listening.

Hi There,
I can completely relate to what you are saying. I feel like my thyroid has a mind of its own. I did RAI but my thyroid was not all the way shut down. My endo told me that at times my thyroid may put out extra burst of hormone as a result. I am currently not on thyroid meds because my levels are normal. The RAI worked enough to make me not hyper. I can usually tell when something is not right. I usually have high anxiety that comes along with a rapid heart rate and tremors and I get really hot. This usually happens several times a week so I know how you feel. I wish there was more we could do to control this but we can’t. Hopefully journalinng will help out. Best of luck.

in reply to: Graves and Acne #1062425Hi,
I did experience acne about a month after I was diagnosed with Graves. I have never had bad skin so when I had the break out i was wondering what the problem was. It did clear up over time.

in reply to: Feel like I’m going nuts….advice please #1062390Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Kim that was a great article. Its amazing how many doctors don’t think that some of the problems we may have (i.e. anxiety) are related to Grave’s. I’m going to speak with someone today about the anxiety. I may also speak with my endo to see if we can try to shut down the thyroid completely. I would rather do that than take meds for anxiety. In the end I just want to be able to better manage everything. Thanks everyone for your support.
