Hello again to all you wonderful supportive peoples…I had a few computer problems and to my horror I couldn’t sign in here for ages while I was sorting it all out, it’s so good to be back! Have been following everyone but just couldn’t post. Not much new with me n my journey except I realized the other day it was actually August 2012 when I was diagnosed, so it has been around 9 months already, and I am still not happy with my levels…have had definite hypo labs for 2,nearly 3 months now, along with some new, ever delightful symptoms…(is the dizziness common with hypo, does anyone know?) in last 3 months there have been no changes to dosing at all with my carbimazole and propranalol. My Endo has just said he is handing me over to my GP for primary care now. I swear he is thinking that because I am now hypo his job is done…what the!! I am seriously considering self dosing if my doc says no to reducing my dose – or finding another doc…..my eye signs are worse(well…duh! I’m hypo! lol) and I have now been referred to see an eye dude…sigh.

I requested from my doc, copies of ‘everything’ so far….This was interesting because I discovered something..
Back in early 2010, I was feeling crappy and went to doc(different one), I was super tired, my memory just wasn’t working anymore and I just couldn’t think straight at all…I thought I was depressed..not so, and they put me on b12 shots and that was that…except I just noticed from the copies of ‘all’ my results I just got, the doc had actually tested TSH and FT4 along with the b12 and….drumroll…. yep way back then in 2010 my TSH was 0.2 (0.5 -5.0). Here it is in black n white with a big star next to it marked for attention, hah! Who knows what my FT3 and FT4 were, no wonder I felt crap. The doc didnt even mention thyroid to me back then..and completely ignored the low TSH! so yea here I am nearly 3 years later, no wonder my levels were so darned high 9 months ago…they had been climbing high for years!

I guess the main point here would be …Make sure you get copies of EVERY test you have, self advocate, and research research research- from credible sources…because sometimes yes, things definately get missed!
And I just wrote a mini novel lol…am so happy to be back :)

Welcome back! Yes, great reminder about getting copies of all records and being our own advocates!

That’s odd that your labs are hypo, but your doc hasn’t made any changes in dosage…hopefully, your general practitioner will help you with this!

I would mention the dizziness to your doctor. I’ve heard a few patients mention this while hypo, but it can also be associated with other medical conditions and medications (like beta-blockers), so you definitely want to get this checked out.

If you would like to go back to your old screen name, send an e-mail to info @ gdatf dot org — and we should be able to reset your password on the old account.

    Take care!

Hi Rae. I am new to all of this but Also had a PCP who basically let my TSH of 0.03 fall through the cracks because my T3 and T4 were not out of normal range (although they were at the upper limit of normal then). I had symptoms then and he gave me a prescription for Lexapro, an anti depressant which i didn’t take because I was convinced I WAS NOT CRAZY! Anyway went to endo and now here I am. I have requested copies of everything, keep a journal etc. Just in case I have a day where I feel like I am engulfed in a fog and can’t remember the sequence of everything. Has nothing to do with the over 50 thing! lol :):).

WIsh you well. Great to see how supportive everyone is to one another here!.
