    Hi all,

When I was at Cleveland Clinic last week, my endo suggested I see another “doctor” for Integrative Medicine. He also suggested that these people are affiliated with Deepak Chopra whom I’ve mentioned before.

He asked me if I was open to this idea and I said I was. I then went to the scheduling desk. Today, I get an appointment card but NOT from Cleveland Clinic! He led my husband and I to believe that this department was within Cleveland Clinic and we both understood that it was.

Instead I got sent to a PA (female) in another part of Ohio!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are wondering where on earth this came from and she is not even a doctor.

We haven’t heard of this part of Ohio, Euclid Avenue is Cleveland Clinic and this woman is on Richmond Road. If anyone is from Ohio, please let me know what type of facility this is.

No mention of Integrative Medicine as he said. I am wondering if this is just a scheduling error?

I told my husband I didn’t want to go. He blew up and said I had to go. But I live in upstate NY and it’s a 5 hour drive to Cleveland and this place? God only knows how to get there and where it is. Also, I am a bit concerned she is NOT an MD.

What do you think? Would you question this with the endo? Or just go? I don’t want to be uncooperative but I think this could be a waste of time and money

    Karen,

A quick google search indicates that the Cleveland Clinic’s Center for Integrative Medicine has an office at 1950 Richmond Road. It also houses the Wellness Institute. The only PA listed has a doctorate in behavioral studies with a PA certificate.

Seems as though this might just be part of the Clinic system. No way I can help you make this decision, but thought you might like more information.

    All the best,

Thank you Susan. I’m going to call and see if one of the doctors will see me. I am more comfortable with an MD.

I’m glad you got rid of that nasty thyroid. Hope you are doing better and better each day!!!!!!!!

Hi Karen – My endo’s office does use PAs, but they work under the supervision of the MDs. Some are more knowledgeable than others, but I’ve generally had pretty good luck with them.

Since this wasn’t what you expected, though, it sounds like it would be worth calling for more information on how that practice works before you head out on a 5-hour trek!

    Take care!

Well, I called today and they cancelled the PA, and gave me a doctor! So that part is good. The bad part is: I have to wait til April 30th. Oh well..
