I’ll tell you guys, I am really, really fed up! I wasn’t feeling bad until I opened the mail box.
I got a jury duty summons again! This is the second one in the past 2 months. Why can’t they leave me alone?
I got out of the one with the local town, now the city court wants me to serve at least one week.
I originially wrote a letter to the the town and they excused me. Now today, I was told I need a doctor’s letter.
Will an endo do this? I cannot cope with jury duty. I have too much anxiety, hot flashes, panic attacks, have to drive downtown, pay for parking, go through the metal detector and spend 9 to 5 there. I cannot cope.
I also suffer from migraines on a daily basis. Cannot stand florescent lights.
It upset me sooo much, I literally threw up. Do you think doctors will let a Graves’ patient off of jury duty?
Karen
I think if you explain the situation to your doc, just as you did here, he should write one for you. I’m sure it wouldn’t hurt to call and ask anyway.

I would absolutely think so. Anyone who has witnessed or understands the snap judgements and irrationality that comes with Graves’ Rage would not want that potential sitting in a jury box.
I didn’t get a note when I was called but I was dismissed and told to go home early due to my aggressive attitude, which I apologized for and explained before I even got polled. That was 4 years ago and they have not asked me back since.
Well, called the endo this morning for a letter. He is on vacation until next week.:o
I also left a note for my neurologist and maybe he’ll have a heart. I have never mentioned this before, didn’t want to scare anyone, Kimberly is the only one that knows, but I also have a brain tumor.
Although benign, it is inoperable without a lot of risk. So I am hoping they let me off. It’s a lot to deal with.
Called the commissioner of jurors, and they don’t believe me obviously. They want a letter. I am trying to slap them with 2 letters – one from each doctor.
Wish me good luck!
Karen
Hi Karen – We had a patient attend our conference a few years ago who was able to get out of jury duty due to Graves’. I don’t recall whether she needed a doctor’s note. This individual was in IL, but hopefully, you will have success as well. Good luck!
