I am new to this forum and I have noticed that people refer to some Graves patients as “survivors”, this alarms me. Why to they use this term?

Hello – I think just because it sounds more empowering than “patient”, “victim”, “sufferer”, etc.. Deaths from Graves’ are rare, and generally occur when a patient has not been diagnosed or is not receiving proper treatment.

At other times on this board, particularly, we’ve been called Graves Warriors. That is much, MUCH better than “patient,” “victim” or even “survivor.”
