Hello – I’ve been on Methimazole for 3 1/2 years, and I haven’t heard anything about a specific time that it should be taken. My doc has me split my dose so that I take part in the a.m. and part in the p.m. — however, other docs will say that this is *not* necessary with Methimazole.

It *is* important that you take the medicine consistently, so if taking the medicine at night helps you to remember to take it every day, then that is helpful.

One other thing that I’ve heard about Methimazole is to be consistent in taking it with or without food. I assume this is to ensure that the meds are absorbed into your body at about the same rate every day.

I was talking with my husband today about when to take the methimazole. I take it at night but I wondered if the time matters. Should I be taking it in the morning?
