    According to the dictionary:

A drug is “any biological substance, synthetic or non-synthetic, that is taken primarily for non-dietary needs.”

Or: “Any chemical substance used for its effect on bodily processes.”

I.e. You may use whatever terminology you want, but if there is an effect on cell behavior in the body, the substance, whether naturally derived or man-made is, by definition, a drug. And if it is a drug it has side effects.

The only question for us is whether or not we put ourselves in the hands of doctors, who use substances that have been studied, extensively, for their therapeutic value.
