This is for either Ski or Bobbi,
I will be entering my seventh week on Friday, post RAI, and I have still not have felt hyper or hypo. I actually
feel pretty well. Could it be that I could go into a normal range without going hypo and having to go on
replacement hormone, or could it be that it did not take. I feel fine, so I am hoping that I will go into the normal
range without any other medication. I would appreciate any input that you may have. I have a doctor appointment
    in two weeks.

    Thanks,
    Susan

If you do not feel hyperthyroid any longer, Susan, then it probably is ‘working.’ I must tell you that when I went in for my first blood work, five or six weeks after RAI, I felt terrific, and I was hypothyroid. I always knew I was more on the tortoise end of the animal spectrum than the antelope end. Anyway, if your doctor has suggested a time for you to come in for blood work, do it, even if you feel well. If nothing else it will give you a sense of what type of progress you are making. To answer one of your questions, though, some folks do go euthroid (i.e. normal levels of thyroid) after RAI. It’s pot luck, but it does happen on occasion.

I’m really glad to hear that you are feeling well.

Well I finally went hypo. My TSH was 8.37 and my T4 .06. About 10 weeks after RAI. What a trip. So this morning I take my first synthroid and WOW! By 2p.m. my head was throbbing and my heart rate was up to 92 and blood pressure was up. So I called Dr. and they said split the pill for 4 days and then 3 days of full pill(.75 strength) and call them in week. They said I must be very sensitive to meds(I told them I thought .75 was too much) To get my head from pounding and my HR down I went back to dosing with beta blocker, motrin, and my other 1/2 of high blood pressure pill and an aspirin 2 hours later cuzz my head felt like I was going to stroke. Finally after 4 hours I feel a little better. I’m really not looking forward to my next dose. Please assure me this will be temporary, anybody. I’m worn out! I am so looking forward to feeling good someday. Maybe I should be on .25 mcg and not .75. Anybody experience this 1st time? Thanks for listening. I appreciate all the support this site gives. Patti

Please make sure you get the ok from your dr. for this if you haven’t already. Med’s can interact with eachother so letting them know what is going on and what you have on hand will help them determine what you should take.
