    Hi, Sam:

There are no cut-and-dry rules about weight gain or loss with this disease. There are people who actually GAIN weight when they are hyper. I’ve read some speculation that perhaps their appetites have been stimulated, and they are eating more than they think, but I suspect nobody knows, really, why one person gains, one person loses, and another stays more or less the same. I think you need to go with the other symptoms.

Hoping you are still in remission,

    Bobbi

I think you can remain the same weight with Graves. I even gained 10 lbs.
    Take care.

I was just wondering if everyone losses weight while hyper or can you remain the same weight and still be hyper? I have been feeling a little hyper but am not losing weight. I called the Dr. and have to wait until the end of June for lab work. I have been diagnosed with Grave’s 3 years ago(the Dr. said I had had it for many years undiagnosed) but have been in remission for the last three years. I am not familiar with coming in and out of remission so I thought I’d ask.

Hi, I had been in remission and now and hyper again. I found I did not lose weight this time. I know I do get very hugry and I HAVE to eat then, so maybe my increased intake is keeping up with the increased metablolism? Do you get very hungry?

Yes, I get very hungry. I eat about every 3 or 4 hours or I get light headed. Aren’t the people on this board very nice and helpful. I like to visit here at least 3 times a week even though I usually don’t write often.
