I lost a little weight at the beginning of my Graves. The doctor caught that. Then when I was on ATDs I too started to gain weight and put on quite a bit. I felt like my switch for hungry was set at high and then my body decided to hold on to all of it as my levels went closer to normal and then hypo. After I was hypo on the meds I couldn’t get it to come off. Am 15 weeks out from RAI now and hoping that I’m at least not going to gain anymore right now. We’ll see when I become hypo and then euthyroid what happens to the pounds.

Good afternoon! Just checking in to say NO LABS YET. They have them at the doc office but won’t tell me until the doc reviews ’em. Boy, I’ll tell ya’, if the doctors office wasn’t half an hour away and I hadn’t just worked all day I would be there staging a sit-in! I said to the nurse "can’t you just read me what the report says the T3 and T4 are? I already know they are high, you don’t have to tell me what normal is… just read me the numbers." Her, "sorry, nope, I don’t think I’m allowed to do that." Grrrrrr. I guess who cares, anyways, huh? Labs are labs and I still feel kinda normal, so OH WELL they’ll call me when they get around to it, huh?

I was good today. Ate a "pure protein" bar for brunch and just came home and had a small piece of salmon. Just finishing up 2 cups of coffee with yummy french vanilla creamer for a treat and to get my butt back moving again for the night! Anyone else caffeine addict? I know it’s not the best thing to do with thyroid issues, but sorry. Not giving up coffee or running

Sue- that stinks about parting with the clothes. Look at the positive, now you can lose weight and buy all brand new ones, right?

Deb- Hi and welcome! I had rai 5 wks ago today, so you are 3 wks behind me. I’m feeling much better, but I do get some crazy spells here and there like somebody turned the hyper switch back on! Hopefully soon you will start seeing some gradual improvement.

ewmb- woo hoo on the 2 pounds!!! How are you adjusting to your son being gone? Will he be home for weekends or not ’til Thanksgiving? I’m glad your HR is staying down

Kimberly- STEP AWAY FROM THE COOKIES haha, easier said than done. Don’t be depressed, you did a really great job last week. Did you ever notice how sometimes it takes several days of paying attention to what you eat and eating less food to make the scale move the right way? But then once it starts moving it goes fast? Betcha you lose this week!

Calling hyperm and Krystal… where’d you girls get to? I bet you are both feeling great and enjoying your new thyroid-less outlooks on life and that is wonderful! We miss you so check in and say hi soon!!!

I’ve actually managed to refrain from buying any Double-Stuff Oreos so far this week, so that’s good news. However, I am headed out shortly for a birthday dinner…and since it’s MY birthday, I plan to have dessert. Maybe two desserts <img decoding=” title=”Very Happy” />

I plan to be back on track tomorrow, although the weigh-in could be ugly this week again! I’m really struggling with the issue of whether majorly restricting calories (or POINTS in my case) will make things better or worse.

Lacie,
Did you get your numbers yet? Maybe I missed it on another post.

ewmb- not yet. I called again yesterday and they again told me that the doctor had not reviewed them but that a nurse would probably call that afternoon. It’s getting old. The lab is supposed to mail me a copy, so maybe I will end up getting that first (today??). I hate it cause I jump every time the phone rings. I’m discouraged with the doc office and probably will be looking for a new endo, this is kinda ridiculous. Thanks for asking. Are you feeling improved since you re-started the meds?

Lacie,
Yes I am feeling some better. Something is working, I hope it’s the RAI over the tapazole. Yesterday I registered a pulse of 68 at one point. That’s the lowest I can remember in years. Sorry about the wait for your numbers. It can be so frustrating. Did you put in writing that the doctor can leave you a message? Some don’t want to do that if they don’t have permission. I guess they are worried about scaring people with new information but you’d think at this point that we are used to tsh, T-4 etc……. Maybe the mail will bring good things.

Me… normal? Not a chance— but my T3 and T4 are!!! I’m amazed, I thought they’d still be slightly high since I do not think my heart has completely returned to it’s old self. Maybe I still have a little ways to go for that? TSH still undetectable, but that’s okay since it lags behind. Recheck in another month or sooner if I feel hypo symptoms. First question out of my mouth was "OK, SO CAN I RUN NOW????" (even though I have already been kinda trotting along) and the nurse went and asked the doc and she said YES!!!! They called this morning while I was at work. Finally.

Thanks for the birthday wishes! Gotta get back on track big time for my Saturday weigh-in.

I had a chicken dish last night from P.F. Chang’s, and my HR was way up last night. I didn’t get the actual HR, as sometimes that makes me *more* freaked out…which makes the HR go even higher! Wonder if it was due to iodine/salt content. Perhaps I’ll find out after I polish off the leftovers today. <img decoding=” title=”Very Happy” />

Glad to hear that you got good news (finally) from your doctor’s office!

Hey sorry all, I bet you thought I had got you all to post your weight then I did a runner. Ok drum roll please :::::::

158lbs

However, the relief is that I know I have been eating healthy and the phonecall from my GP with news about how hypo I am explains it all.

I don’t have time to read back but I remember someone saying about the type of foods hypo’s shouldn’t eat. I am going to look more into the today – possibly purchase a thyroid diet book – any recommendations?

Today I am going to try and drink more fluids and stay away from snacks…wish me luck xxx

Good news here. I am feeling better and have lost 4 pounds! My heart rate was 76 when I got up this morning. That’s the lowest in the am that I can remember in a long time. I have to decide how long to wait to get blood work done again. I had it about 3 weeks ago so figure next week would be good. Here’s hoping the RAI is almost done with the miracle!

Well you girls are just full of good news today, huh? COOL!!! sounds like everybody’s going hypo together! <img decoding=” title=”Very Happy” />

I’m great. Wow, really didn’t expect to ever say that again. Sitting here at the computer and my heart rate monitor is reading 47. I wore it to deliver my route today and could see the average is way down. I was looking at 48 a couple times driving around! I guess I will worry when I see it under 43 or so since I know it was under 45 before all of this. Just came from the grocery store where I froze my butt of for the first time in ages! And I don’t feel ravenously hungry all the time anymore!!! Can’t wait to run later and see what happens. I am 5 weeks and 4 days post rai. Yesterday I could still feel some hyper but today that has disappeared.

Making Wild Alaskan Salmon and rice for dinner. YUM! It’s my favorite and now I have my DS hooked on it. DH doesn’t love it, but now that DS wants it I have an excuse for buying it. I never cook, but I’ll cook for salmon.

Grrrr…another bad week, weight-wise. Up .6 to 139.6 — the highest point I’ve been at in the last 5 years. :x

At least I know it was probably due to the birthday celebration (and leftovers). I was actually even more upset last week when I *thought* I had made good choices all week and still gained.

Same goals as last week, plus I plan to do some more research on foods with a low Glycemic Index (GI). Perhaps that is the solution to keeping the hunger pangs at bay?
