Has anyone else experienced an increase in dreams that they remember since being hyper? I have at least 2 very vivid dreams a night that I remember in detail upon waking. This is in addition to the 20 or so wakeups I have during the course of my 7 hour sleep time. Consequently, I am not feeling very rested! I know a lot of people don’t sleep well, but I was wondering if anyone else had such dreams? Also, I have considered taking my propanolol at night to perhaps ease things (as some people on this board have mentioned they do), but I haven’t been taking them for about a month and my resting HR is down to 60bpm (down from 110bpm) so I don’t think my heart is an issue. Any thoughts?

Hi Shannon — Yes! I have the wildest, most vivid dreams imaginable! I take ATDs and Inderol 4 times a day and during my first visit with my endo after starting the meds, he asked me “How are your dreams?” I was shocked! He laughed and said that was a side effect — of course, he could have told me. I thought I was losing it ;) Anyway, I adjusted the evening dose to earlier in the evening and that seems to have lessened this side effect. Although, if for some reason I fall asleep during the day, even to doze off for a couple of minutes, I’ll have a wild one. I think that may be a reason I am so tired so often, as you mentioned in your later post. It can’t be very restful, but it sure isn’t boring!

While hyper and on propanolol i started having very vivid, frequent nightmares (like “Millenium” episodes). Our pharmacist told me nightmares are a common side effect of that medication.

HAS ANYONE OUT THERE EXPERIENCED ANY CHANGES IN THEIR DREAMING PATTERNS SINCE THE ONSET OF GRAVES? SINCE I’VE BEEN ON SYNTHROID I’VE FOUND MYSELF HAVING THE STRANGEST SUBJECT MATTER IN MY DREAMING AT NIGHT AS WELL AS BEING ABLE TO RECALL THEM A LOT MORE THAN I PREVIOUSLY HAD BEEN ABLE TO. THANX

    Hi JD,

Ditto to what you said. Only mine started after I got on my
meds for my Fibromyalgia. Weird aren’t they?!!! LOL I plan
on telling the doctor about it and I was hoping that it was
    due to getting better sleep.

    Bye,
    Michele B.

Yes, I too have experienced an increase in dreams and definitely able to recall the dreams since I went on synthroid 6 months ago (after having thyroid removed).
