Thank you for taking the time to see this…I will try to get to the point.
Have Graves.. been on synthroid for 5 years now…
I am also on HRT for menopause… take double the dose of this as I am still up most of the night with the hot sweats.
When I went on HRT… my syntroid was raised to from .1 to .112
after the HRT leveled off I went back to .1.
now I am on .88 5 days a week and .1 Saturday and sunday….I am still getting hot flashes and sweats….
I should note that I have fibromyalgia and one of the symptoms is night sweats… this as I am saying as it may be pertinent to my post of which I am desperate for some kind of logical answer if possible…
and I should also note.. that I have take every kind of blood test imaginable and also 3 different kinds of 24 hour urine output tests to see why on HRT I am still getting the hot sweats.
1. My endo says it is not the thyroid ( more on this later)
2. The gyno said I am double the does of the HRT so it is not menopausal.
3. The cardiologist says not my heart
4. The rheumetologist is stumped as is my primary doctor..5. My endo said 2 months ago she could put me to .88 for the whole week instead of .1 on sat and sunday…
My question is this…
When I take the .88 all week and then the 2 days of .1… on the days I take the .1 I feel the difference right away … and get the jitters a little bit and the hot flashes all night long saturday, sunday and it goes into Monday tues, wed and thurs of that week till the .88 kicks in again
Do you think it is the .1 mg of synthroid I take on the weekends that is doing this too me…. this is my theory
This has been going on for a long time now…. and I am desperate..
If someone has another theory..please let me know…
Double the dose of HRT and still the flashes and it is not menopausal
all my docs have hit a brick wall with this…answers would be appreciated.
if you have any more questions to ask me re all of this.. fire away and I will answer them.thank you
CocoHi Coco
I’m not able to answer any of the questions regarding your hot flashes and the medicine you are on because I’ve not experience any of that. Graves Disease put me into an early menopause. The I only had a few problems and then I was fine.
Regarding your thyroid replacement med I don’t think that the increase dose on the weekends should be the problem. Since you are only on that dose for a few days a week and it can take several weeks for you to few the effects. Your endo is just tweaking you dosage a small amount.
This are questions you really should ask your endo about. Remember that you should not change any part of your dosage unless you have talk to your endo about this.
