Sorry to hear you’r not feeling so good.
Better to get checked out & make sure you are ok than leave it and hope it goes away.
You’re in my thoughts, fingers crossed for you.

    Thank you girls.

I went to general dr. today and told her what was going on. She said with everything I told her that she was going to run thyroid testing and a cbc and go from there.

I’m not happy but nothing has me happy nowadays. 2-3 days i’ll have results. SHe said we will see what they say and if it’s that then we know what to do. If it isn’t that then we’ll go from there with looking for something else.
DH says this has been coming on for a long while now and I of course my mind is saying it’s everyone else and not me. We’ll see what happens. I’ll keep you all posted.

Mama – While labs being out of kilter (or wondering if they are) does not lead to "happiness" – neither does being sick. I was thinking the other day how lucky we are to live in a time when many things are treatable. There was a time when Graves carried a fairly high mortality rate. Now there are treatment options that work well.

Same thing with my osteoporosis and high cholesterol. I preferred the days when I was med free – and now I am on 4 meds chronically. Somedays I feel sad about that – like it all happened in 4 years and I was not ready. Then I think of my aunt who had sever osteoporosis before we had meds other than estrogen to treat it – I can’t imagine because it would eventually be a loosing battle.

My thoughts are with you as you wait for results. Most of all – I wish you health and happiness.

    Cathy,

Thanks for the dose of positive attitude. Sometimes when I’m consumed by Graves, it’s hard to remember that there are many people with much more difficult things to deal with. I’ve tried to remind myself that Graves is not the end of the world, and I’ll get through it.

    Thanks,
    Emily

Yes it is always good to be reminded that Graves’ disease is treatable. I am greatful for that. I wish I wasn’t so "blank" feeling though. Again we have no clue if this is or isn’t my Graves’ but we’ll see soon. DH even said it might just be that i’m not getting enough sleep. (go figure with 4 kids   ).

I was eight years in remission but back at it! Like you I was in denial that it was back. I don’t think this round for me will be as bad as the first time.

    Currently labs are;

    TSH 3rd generation, 1.0 (Range .4-4.5)
    T4, free 1.2(Range .8-1.8)
    T4 (thyroxine), Total 7.3 (Range 4.5-12.5)

    T3, total 89 (Range 97-219)
    Dr. says this is low

Dr. wants me to go see endocrinologist. Can someone explain to me why she wants me to go to endo? I have no clue what T3 is and if it’s low what could possibly be the matter if the TSH is within range. Please note that our lab FINALLY changed it’s ranges last year. It use to be .35-5.5. I was so thrilled that they changed it.

She did yell at me for not sleeping well but sheesh I have 4kids. 3 are little. She said I will go back out of remission if I dont take care of myself and a few nights of good solid sleep should help and if it doesn’t it wont hurt.

    Uhgg!

    Mamabear,

I don’t have the answer about T3 – I’m just learning all of that myself. But even though your TSH is "normal" could it be that it is low for you? The "normal" range is pretty wide. Just a thought.

I’ve been thinking about you this week. Hang in there.

My tsh levels have always been on the low side. there was a time I would feel weird being at 1.0 and I was even not happy with .8 but I wont complain. Yes I feel best at a nice 1.5-2.5 but my body doesn’t do that on it’s own. So i get what I get lol.

Thank you. I am just a wreck due to my period coming and that always enhances our feelings LOL. I know I can deal with this, I am too stubborn a woman and to big a control freak when it comes to my own health to let this bring me down! But I am choosing to wallo in self pity for a while and that is NOT like me at all. Thus the reason the dr. thinks thyroid or major lack of sleep. She demanded that I sleep because if this is the makings of GD coming back or going hypo sleep is essential. Yeah right ROFL!

What I dont like is that I have NO CLUE what will happen next. I do have an appt on tuesday with the endo. I am wondering if they should have run a FREE T3 instead of a Total T3.
I am wondering if this is really something to worry about or not?

    Any suggestions from anyone?

If your symptoms got bad enough that you sought medical help, it’s definitely something. What it is, I don’t know, but the investigation is important. I would agree that sleep is extremely important ~ we had a doctor speak at one of the conferences about sleep disorders, and he said it’s important to nip sleep problems in the bud before they cross over from a purely physical issue into an emotional one. Once we’ve got it in our minds that "I can’t sleep," it makes it many times harder to break through and solve the problem. Do whatever you have to do to get rest, and remember too that laying in bed in a quiet room, keeping yourself still, is nearly as good for your body as full sleep, so don’t fret if it doesn’t feel like you’re falling asleep enough. Some things that may help: avoid alcohol or caffeine in the evening, have a hot bath or shower and then lay down with lights low, start early to "wind down" so your body is ready for sleep, use lavender scented body wash. I know it’s tough with kids in the house ~ we must always be poised for action, mustn’t we? ~ but your health is worth the try. Over-the-counter sleep aids may be helpful, and typically are not habit forming. You might want to start with a smaller dose than is recommended, since you may be called upon by the kids in the night. It may just be enough to send you into sleep, which is the biggest hurdle.

Wishing you luck at the endo Tuesday!
