This is my first post, but I have read this forum many times.

I have been dealing with Graves’ since January of 2012 and have had a host of issues, many of which others suffer also, but lately I have been experiencing this unusual and disturbing sensation. My bicep muscles do not actually hurt, but rather I have a sensation, similar to RLS, that makes me want to tear the muscles out just to feel relief. The sensation, which is constant is driving me mad to the point where it affects my emotions and disposition.

Has anyone else ever felt this? I really need to know that I am not crazy!

    Hi Andrew1973,

Sorry you’ve been one of us since January 2012. I hope that by now you have found some relief from the nasty ups and downs.
I don’t have your muscle symptoms, mine just ache off and on, but I hope that you’ve mentioned your problems to your doctor. Maybe the same meds that help RLS will help you.

I just wanted to welcome you. There are lots of people here. Hopefully, someone has an answer for you.
Don’t give up and let us know how you’re doing.

    Hugs.

    Barbra.

    Hello Andrew,

Welcome aboard. What does your thyroid specialist say about your unusual muscle symptoms? I can remember pains when I was fairly early diagnosed. Now the only thing is some strange cramps in my shins at night. I hadn’t even thought about them being related to my Graves’, but now I will be asking.

I will try sending your remark to one of our Advisors, but I am sure they will say “not enough information”. What treatment have you had, TSH levels, etc.

    Take care,

    Nancy

    PS You are NOT crazy!

Nancy asked me to stop by and see if I could be of help. I found different muscle groups spasmed when I was at different levels. Biceps, thigh and buttocks. As I moved from hyper to hypo, I found different groups reacted to different levels.

Try aspercream. It worked wonders for me to calm the jumpy muscles. Also a hot bath helped.

I have not been by in ages. Retired a few months ago and life has been great. It did not happen over night. Just try to remember we did not get sick in a week or month. So recovery takes a long time too.
