Hi Karen-
I just had my uptake and scan done a couple of weeks ago and there were no precautions for me to follow. I came right home picked up my kids and went on with my day as usual. It is not the same amout of radioactive isotope used in RAI and is not supposed to have any effect on you or at least minimal. When i had the uptake part done i just sat in front of a wand and waited a minute or so till it read the iodine level and then I went to have the scan done where I layed on a bed while a machine whent over me kinda like a CAT scan.
