It’s common for thyroid hormone needs to change over time. There are many reasons why our body either metabolizes the hormone differently or our needs change for thyroid hormone — some of the factors can be age, weight, activity level, hormonal status (menopause, for instance), or stress levels. It is best to be checked at least annually, to be sure that our hormone needs are being met (and not exceeded).

I was diagnosed in 1992 with Graves and had RAI in 1995. Never felt back to normal but I was on Armour 90mg for about 3 years. Over the past year I changed jobs, moved to another state and gained 60 pounds. Then in July I was very symptomatic – tachycardic, irritable, tired, – and blood tests showed I was hyperthyroid. Has anyone else had an experience like this?
