Well, on the methmizole and feeling pretty good. Just got my six week labs and it looks like I’ve got some issues already!

    Total protein 6.8. [6.3- 8.2]
    Albumin 3.9. [3.5 – 5.0]
    Bilirubin total 0.3. [0.2 – 1.3]
    Bilirubin direct 0.0 [0.0 – 0.4]
    AST 35 [14 – 36]
    ALT *63 [9 – 52]
    Alkaline Phosphatase 126 [38-126]

    T4 0.51
    T3 1.51

I do see the doctor next Wednesday. But, my Lowe back is a little sore so I was wondering what was up. I knew it was too good to be true.

Ok, just found previous results. Actually, T3, AST, ALT are coming down.

T4 did drop from 1.19 to 0.51 so that is worse?

I suppose after a while I will be able to read these results like everyone else!

To begin with, it would be helpful for you to know the range that that lab uses. Is it on the lab slip? From the info you have provided, all appear in the normal range value for that lab except the ALT. That’s ’cause there is an asterisk beside it. Several of the other tests are part of of a liver function panel, and they are all normal.
I’d be sure to check it out on Wednesday, get an explanation you can understand, ask if the doc is concern…or not concerned. Also look up, and check with your doc, symptoms of liver involvement. A lot of them mimic flu, and general aches and pains that can have multiple causes.
Wednesday will come pretty fast. If you are super concerned, call on Monday, leave a message to that affect, and reference the labs. Things are kinda crazy and disjointed, with communication at its’ worse, during this holiday season/

Thanks Shirley. Funny, I did add the ranges on the right side but it’s not showing up. Yes, all are better except the asterisk and T4 that also had an asterisk. No, I’m not too worried now because compared to the previous lab almost everything had an asterisk!

But, it’s only been 6 weeks and I am super responsive to the medicine. Which of course is great but I have been waiting for the other shoe to drop because it seems that is the inevitable outcome.

I completely understand now why you have to stay on top of this so closely!

I need to be well for the next four months because we are doing one of the most stressful tasks… Buying/selling house and moving. Will my husband help much? Doubtful doubtful doubtful.

Gosh, I sure do hope that you have kind of sort of smooth sailing, anyway, things progress well for you. YOu are SO right! Selling/moving/buying a house is very stressful. ARe you moving to a different part of the world?
I’m wondering if you will be having to find new docs, and all the other stuff, that is also stressful, if you are in a new community. At least the interest rates are pretty nice, for both buyers and sellers.

I hope the shoe does not drop for you! It would be so nice. I had very smooth sailing with my ATD, after being misdiagnosed for quite a while (student, job, new baby, tired…) I got a pat on the head, told I was “too anxious, and I needed to calm down so my husband had a calm place to study.” You know how THAT went over with me. After my ATD, I had a thyroidectomy pretty quickly.

More about moving. I did all the sorting and packing, but the plus side was that I got to throw away a lot of stuff that my husband would have kept, and when we unpacked, I knew what was in the boxes. I have not moved for quite a while, but I tend to get rid of stuff on a regular basis. Sometimes, it is something I wish I had!
Good luck to you with your labs and how you feel.

Thanks! I’m still in the area. Different state but it’s only 20 miles from my doctor. I doubt I will switch endos since I’m pretty fortunate to have found my present one. Yes, I will have lots of sorting to do! I have to clean and sort just to bring the realtors in to interview and price the house.we are in a tight space so hopefully moving out to the burbs will give us some breathing room. I figure do it now while I’m not working and feeling somewhat normal. I just hope the stress doesn’t trigger a relapse.

I don’t know the symptoms of hypo but I think the other shoe is dropping. My lower back and neck is killing me. First, I thought maybe it was just my period but the pain hasn’t gone away. I also feel a lot more tired. I see the doctor soon enough on Wednesday so I’m just getting annoyed once again with this disease.

I mentioned I am in a dance troupe and my friends were trying to get me in for the upcoming show because I was doing “so well” I tried to explain it isn’t what you think. I have no idea when I could get bad again. I must say I never thought it would happen after a few short weeks. 6 months not 6 weeks. I am not going by my levels because on paper it doesn’t look so bad. Which is weird because originally my levels were high but I was doing okay. After they really sky rocketed I noticed the heart palpitations the most. I wasn’t so disturbed by feeling warm or being thirsty etc. So, I’m thinking normal may actually be more hypo for me? (Thinking out loud not asking for a dx).

    Ugh…

Hello – Every patient is different, but common symptoms of hypo can include fatigue, joint pain, unexplained weight gain, constipation, dry skin, cold intolerance, and slow pulse.

I don’t know if you are already on your way to the doc’s office today, but it would be helpful to document all of your symptoms in writing. Also, make sure that your doc is looking at your Free T4 (some docs also look at T3) in making dosing adjustments. TSH can remain suppressed for quite some time and is not a good benchmark early in the process.

Hopefully, you will get some good feedback today.

Kimberly- thanks. I saw the doctor and he told me to reduce methmizole from 30mg to 20mg. He also said too take them together not morning and night. I thought that was interesting. He was sweet and tried to warn me about the hair falling out. I have lots of hair but as he stated it is like when your pregnant. However, hair is back to normal it fell out more when I was really hyper, I had assumed it was hormonal. I am within normal range. So, he will see me again march 6th with a rx for labs right before I see him.

I wish everyone could see this endo he is very thorough and kind. The first one I saw was a bit creepy. What a difference!

SO glad you found a doc that you are happy with! If you’d like to PM me or e-mail the GDATF (info@gdatf.org) with his contact info, we’d love to include him in our physician registry!
