That’s what I felt 3 months after RAI. Give it a week and it may go away. I call it "my thyroid dump" now, but back then it WAS scary, as I didn’t know what was going on. It lasted about a week.

    (Whoa, 3 months already).

    Lacie,
I am experiencing the same kinds of what if feelings. I am now on the hormone replacement about 7 weeks and I have some good days and some bad days when I think oh no my HR is up again and I think it’s all coming back. I think there is a real adjustment for our bodies and it makes sense that things go up and down. On the otherhand your sore throat may have nothing to do with your thyroid. There is a lot of stuff out there to get right now. I feel like I am getting a cold right now. It’s hard to know what to attribute to which thing for me. I did end up at my GP a few weeks ago and I had a UTI so it wasn’t just hypo making me feel yucky. If it continues maybe you should go make sure you aren’t harboring STREP or something else. Do you have a fever? Swollen lymph glands? Swollen tonsils if you still have them?

Hope today is better for you. I am noticing things changing for me slowly. My skin feels different and my fingernails aren’t as ridgy as they were earlier. My eyes aren’t puffy and I do feel like I have an upward trend in energy.

    Hang in there.

I know that the RAI can take up to six months to do everything it is capable of doing, so until you’ve passed that mark, it’s possible that you may have these little "bumps" in the road. From what I understand, the bulk of the changes happen within six weeks, but things can continue to "adjust" all the way out to the six month mark. Hang in, but of course keep an eye out for the more serious hyper symptoms (as you are already wisely doing). It’s probably not likely that you’ll go "full hyper" again, if that helps, but then again, everyone’s different, and strange things do happen, so there aren’t really any completely unequivocal answers.

Remember also that while these fluctuations are occurring, it’s interrupting your body’s healing process (healing from the hyperthyroidism), so continue to be kind to yourself ~ do only what feels GOOD to do, don’t overdo.

Thanks for the encouragement. I know I can always count on you guys. I slept a little better last night and sort of feel less hyper today. The throat thing is weird. It doesn’t hurt bad, just feels funny. It is worse after I run, and I started noticing it even before I was officially diagnosed with Graves’. After I ran a hard race, it would hurt like this- and I really thought it was just from all of that in and out breathing— until after I had RAI and now I think it has to do with my thyroid being inflamed. Because after RAI, even when I wasn’t running, I would have a day or two when my throat would feel like this and my hyper symptoms would be worse. But then the throat would be fine and I’d be more hypo each time. I told DH I was tempted to just take half my Levo dose this morning and he said no, I should take it like I’m supposed to. Maybe this is just how normal feels? On a good note I lost about 5 pounds– and ewmb, my eyes are not puffy anymore, either. I really think it was water weight from being hypo. I look normal again! Now if I just "knew" what "normal" felt like!!!
