I’m sorry for everything that you’ve gone through…but WOW…how fortunate that those cancerous cells were removed at such an early stage! Feel free to post here as you go through the process of finding the "sweet spot" with your replacement hormone. There are several members here who have had a Total Thyroidectomy, and I’m sure they would be happy to share their experiences.
Best of luck!
Just over a year ago, I was diagnosed with Graves’ disease. And it’s been a rough year, as I have gained a bunch of weight back, that I had managed to lose a couple years prior to diagnosis. But at the start of this year, I went in for a Minimally Invasive Video Assisted Total Thyroidectomy. And I have to admit, my surgeon did a wonderful job, after all is said and done, I’m going to have a very little scar, barely noticable. Now I’m on the road to finding the right dosage for my synthroid. And from what I’ve read, it’s going to be a long road, but I remain hopeful that I can get it right within the year.
The biggest shocker from all of this was at my follow up with the doctor. I actually had to look back and be thankful that I was diagnosed and had the procedure done. My surgeon let me know that after the procedure, they found a very small(his words, "so small I’m surprised they found it") bit of cancer. Although this now starts up more tests and precautionary measures, I’m grateful that I had the procedure and that this was found and removed before it could have become something much worse.
Ice – I think there are often small blessings hidden in our Graves’ journey. Yours is just more "objective" than some of ours! Good luck on your journey to health and wellness!!! ” title=”Very Happy” />
