    Hello everyone,

I’m new in this forum. I have Graves disease since 2004. I had RAI done on me in 2005 and an eyelid surgery in 2007. Now I’m thinking about having an orbital decompression surgery done on my right eye. I’m researching on this and reading, and thought you could give me some insight. From what I’ve read most people have double vision problems after that surgery because the eyes are not aligned anymore. Please share your experiences on this. Thank you.

Hello and Welcome! I haven’t had this procedure, but if you do a search on this board (located in the top left-hand corner) for "orbital" or "decompression", many posters here have been great about documenting their experiences.

Yes, double vision is a potential complication of OD, which could potentially require a subsequent surgery to correct. That is definitely an issue that you would want to discuss with any surgical consultation.

Thank you Kimberly. I will discuss this with my doctor and read a bit more on this in this forum.

Hi Christy, when I had my OD, I chronicled everything. Look up my name, or OD or post op day 1. To help you find it, the date I had it was February 3 or 4, 2009. I think you will find it very helpful and reassuring.
