Hello, it has been a while. I wanted to give you an update. I have had TED for 2 years. I had orbital decompression feb 2012, which had a complication.
Anyways, I had a brain surgery and orbits MRI in October and I have suprised my Doctors. The eye muscles are now back to normal?!?!?!
The doc’s are confused. Said that they have never seen anything like it. I went from having my right eye muscles pinching my optic nerve, they were as thick as my thumb. That was the reason I had orbital decompression.
Anyways, Now after brain surgery and becoming blind in that eye fom the brain surgery, all of my doctors are trying to figure out how and why the muscles have receded back to normal size.
Not sure what this means, however I guess this does not happen? The neuro Ophthmologist is scratching his head. He wants to know what I have been doing. I told him other then not working I am on Armour thyroid, and finally regulated in the higher upper range. I will be having my scans sent over to the Shiley Eye Throid eye clinic, for them to study.
Will update you if they ever figure out why the are back to normal. Jut thought you would like to know there is a chance your eye muscles can go back to normal or at the very least close to normal. Mayne orbital decompression will not be required in the future if they figure this one out.
Thanks for the update – SO glad you have finally gotten some good news after all you’ve been through!
I still have CSF issues, but I thought it was I tree sting how ALL of my doctors are interested in what I have done to get my eye muscles back to normal.
Too which I reply, ummm regulated hormones? Armour Thyroid? My surgeon keeps saying amazing I had to blind you just to get your muscles back to normal. Which is highly unlikely
Interesting not Tree Sling stupid auto correct.
Hi Jules,
WEll, it is a puzzle that fibrosed muscles have become UN fibrosed. And, is this associated with no double vision, or do you have enough vision left to tell? Apparently the un_fibrosed muscles are in the eye that the neurosurgeon did the crani on that severed the artery that caused your blindness? Certainly causing the blindness is most likely unrelated to the eye muscles and their changes.
You know so much. Did you look at the CT’s yourself? Based on your experiences, having followed all of your blog, I want to be sure YOU have made the same observation (:It will be interesting to see what other docs say.
I am still having trouble believing it, unless you saw the baseline orbital CT and a recent one. My money is on YOU!
