I was diagnosed with a hyperthyroid in Oct. and started taking 5 mg of tapazole. Then in late Nov. the dosage was increased to 7.5 mg. After the increase, I developed a sore throat. Then in January white spots on my lips. Has anyone else had any experiences like this? I also was prescribed propanol but stopped taking it because I could not sleep when I took it. I did not test positive for Graves, just hyperthyroid. Thank you so much!

Hello and welcome – This needs to be checked out ASAP with your doctor. (Literally, as soon as you read this post, I would call your doctor’s office!) These symptoms can indicate a rare, but serious side effect of the meds that severely deplete white blood cell count. Your doc should order a WBC test for you; also be sure to ask if you need to stop the meds until the results are back.

Call your doctor, NOW. Re-read Kimberley’s post.

    Take care,

Agree with Nancy and Kimberly. This can be very serious.
For your own knowledge, Graves’ IS hyperthyroidism. You need to be seen. Now.
