I am 17 years old and currently taking 2 grains of Armour, had RAI 2 years ago. I have heard that if you take Armour while you have graves it feeds the antibodies and makes you more prone to other autoimmune diseases. Is that true? Cause it is the only thyroid drug that works for me and have had nothing but good results with it so far(still raising)

Hello – I have not seen any studies linking Armour with other autoimmune diseases. However, the fact that we have *one* autoimmune disease does make us statistically more likely than the general population to get a second autoimmune condition.

I have read a few anectodal stories on the Internet of patients who believed that their Graves’ antibodies flared on Armour, but again, I haven’t seen this confirmed with any studies.

The important thing is that you are feeling good – and hopefully, you are getting regular lab work done to make sure your levels are remaining in the “normal” range.
