I also experienced severe swelling in my ankles and feet. For me, it did turn out to be related to GD – it was a symptom of pretibial myxedema. My endo sent me to a dermatologist for treatment – which generally consists of applying corticosteroid cream to the affected areas. For me, that is the front of the legs, on the shins, and also around the ankle of my right foot.
