Hi Pauline – Hand tremors, heart palpitations, and shortness of breath are all common symptoms of hyperthyroidism. However, I’m not a doctor…just a fellow patient! As to whether these symptoms are severe enough to warrant RAI or another treatment option, this is a decision that you will need to make in conjunction with your doctor.

You already have a good "pro" and "con" list started to help sort through your options. Keep in mind that you can always repeat the RAIU Uptake & Scan if you decide to wait. However, once you make the decision to move forward with RAI, you *don’t* get a do-over. This might turn out to be the best choice for you after you review all your options — but I would *not* recommend making that decision solely because you feel you are under time pressure.
