When I was first diagnoses with Graves’ the endo asked me if
I had any white splotches on my skin. Guess that has something
to do with autoimmune disorders. I noticed that my stepmother
has alot of white spots on her arms or areas that don’t seem
to tan and she has fibromyalgia.

My 14 year old daughter suffers from GD. One odd thing that we have noticed
recently is that the tops of her big toes are yellow. Has anyone come across
this before? Maybe she is unique – of course, I think so anyway. Thanks in
advance for any help anyone can give me.

The loss of skin pigment is common with people who have Graves disease. SOme loose it in small amounts but my mom has pigment loss over her whole body. If I am correct I think this is what Michael Jackson has, pigment loss, but I dont think he has GD,, but IM not for sure.

Vitiligo, a skin disease and a part of Hyperthyroidism, is painless white spots on the skin. I had this in the past, years ago, and it went away. Years ago I did not know it was a part of Hyperthyroidism. I now have some spots on my chin, around my ankles and on the top of my feet. Looks like I have a dirty chin, ankles and feet!

I am just getting over Grave’s Disease and I am now into Hypothyroidism after electing to do the Radio Active Iodine treatment for the Grave’s Disease. What a nightmare that was to have GD!

My husband has the white spots all over his neck and upper body and has for years now. Sometimes they are not so painless. At times due to humidity or rubbing of his clothes the painless white spots will become pink and crusty which do then become painful or itch.
We are having my whole family checked for thyroid disease now.

Let me know if anyone would like for me to post ALL of (about 20-30) the symptoms and signs I had due to Grave’s Disease. They kept on going undiagnosed until one day, after years of suffering, I was actually (or was it accidentally) diagnosed… No, really it was by the grace of The Lord and my pushy Mother and Mother-in-law. Sorry Mom, Ma.
