    Hi all,

Feeling very jittery, anxious, and frustrated right now. I received lab results back today and my TSH is .16, while I understand that the normal range is .40-4.5. My T4 and T3 results are within the normal range, so my doctor has told me to continue to wait until my upcoming appointment in April. I have a good relationship with my doctor and I do trust his judgement, although I am frustrated because I know how awful I feel. The tremor in my hands has visibly returned, my whole body feels shaky, and I feel like I’ve had several cups of coffee when I’ve had no caffeine. I certainly don’t feel like myself emotionally. My doctor offered me a beta blocker for my anxiety, which I refused since I have not had luck with them before.

Has anyone else experienced this? My understanding is that once the TSH has gone out of normal range, my thyroid will not go into remission.

    Best,

    Ms. Graves

Hello – Having below normal TSH but normal T3/T4 is referred to as “subclinical hyperthyroidism”. Subclinical hyperthyroidism will sometimes resolve on its own, so the treatment is usually “watch and wait” — *unless* the patient is having hypER symptoms or is at high risk of heart issues or osteoporosis.

Since you are obviously experiencing significant symptoms, it would be worth seeing if you can get into the endocrinologist more quickly, rather than waiting until April. If your schedule is flexible, you can ask to be placed on a cancellation list, which can sometimes reduce the long wait.

Hope you can get some relief soon!
