The conference is one month away. If you are intending to go, but haven’t registered, please register so we can plans for the meals and everything else.
Charlotte is a central airport, the weather should be nice–cool but not cold. The hotel is magnificent, and you can’t imagine all the special people that will be there. We have lots of doctors, on lots of subjects.
The cost is extremely reasonable. It costs less for the entire conference, including the meals, than for one thyroid panel lab test.
But the BEST thing about the conference is the people that you will meet, the support you will find, and the friendships that will develop.
Please come!
Hey Nancy – Is there a SuperShuttle in Charlotte that can get us to the hotel?
If not, maybe the participants could post our arrival times at the airport, so we could group together and share cab fare. I’ve never been to Charlotte, so I don’t know if there are multiple terminals at the airport. If so, that might make it difficult.
By the way, do you know if Peter ever weighed in on the ideas about generating some support for the PARAID bill at the conference?
I called the hotel. The person I talked to said there is not a shuttle, but they use a group called Carrier Car. If there are 3 people, it costs about $22.00 each, and I think that includes a tip. The hotel will set it up for you. Their number is 866-248-4824.
THE DEADLINE FOR HOTEL RESERVATIONS IS SEPTEMBER 25TH – That’s next Friday. At that point they stop the special room rate of $150, and go back to $450.
Yes, we are going to do something with the PARAID bill – probably signing letters. Do you know that Dr. Noel Rose from the Autoimmune Society will the there, and speak to us?
I think it is a good idea to get together at the airport. Can someone figure out a way to post arrival times, or will someone offer to collect them out of individual posts and make them into one or two longer posts? I would suggest
Name, Arriving FROM, Airline, Flight number and Time of arrival.Take care,
I’ll take that on ~ everyone who is flying in, send me your info by private message. I’ll gather all the info and try to coordinate groups to share a ride. Send me also regular e-mail addresses I can use to contact you, and cell phone numbers so you can reach each other at the last minute ~ for each group of three, we’ll probably need to have at least one person who can be the main contact in case something happens (flight delays, etc.). They may require a credit card to reserve, so we’d have to coordinate that separately for each group as well.
Nancy’s guess is perfect ~ send me
Name
Airline
Flight number
arriving from (city)
arrival date
time of arrival
e-mail address
cell phone #Will transcripts be available from the conference speakers? I cannot even imagine I would ever be well enough to attend one. I went undiagnosed for 3 years, and although I have been on methimizole for 3 months, my levels are still very high, and I still feel worse than terrible. It’s hard to be out of bed for more than 2 hours, I cannot even fathom going to a conference 1100 miles away, but would LOVE to read the information.
Ski – Just sent you a PM with my travel info.
Nancy – Let me know if there is anything I need to do prior to the conference on the letters. I know that AARDA has a form letter, so perhaps Dr. Rose will have some suggestions.
Thanks!
Bumpity, bump, bump…
Friday is the last day for the killer hotel rate!
I am actually going to call the hotel tomorrow and extend for a day, since I won’t have a job to rush back to on Monday. Might as well make the best of it! ” title=”Smile” />
EDIT: The hotel is sold out for Sunday night, so I am on the waiting list now. Hopefully, something will open up, as I already changed my flight and I’d rather not switch hotels for a night! I figured *no* hotel would be sold out on a Sunday in this economy…but I guess this is peak season for NC…
Only four hours to make that hotel reservation!
