HI, I thought I was the only one with the itching prpoblem…
I can only tell you my experience with itching.. That was my first symptom of Graves along with ear and sinus infections prior to the rash.. I am allergic to Nickel, propylene glycol, and paraben, I was patch tested and am now trying to avoid most of these chemicals,, I also take benedryl and zyrtec at night and I use a cortisone cream without any of the above chemicals in it.. My dermatologist had precribed cortisone creams with theses chemicals in them and of course that only made it worse.. I also was on steroids for months and that did not help also because I was not eliminating the allergens from my body , so as soon as I stoped the steriods my rash would come back.. I have had this rash for almost 3 years now .. I am under control not cured as of this moment. If you think your wife may have allergies please feel free to write. Good luck I hope your wife does not have these allergies, Renee
I am so pleased to have found this board. After almost 4 solid months of my wife itching her skin until it comes off and 5 doctors treating her from everything from scabies to liver disease she was diagnosed lthis week with a thyroid problem, hyperthyroidism and or Graves. She is still itching severely and most nights cries until she is exhausted and then falls asleep. She was worried that she was the only person out there with this problem and she would go insane frome the itching. She is suffering terribly and I am trying as I may to keep her encouraged but knowing now she is not alone will be a help emotionally for her. We are hoping the doctor will be able to solve this itching. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. She is currently taking steroids to help the itching, I have not read anything as to the effects of these on her condition. If anyone has any thoughts they would be appreciated. Also any tips to keep the itching to a minimum, ie- diet, exercise, anything. Thank-you all.
