I am 18 months post thyroidectomy and still sufferring from -for lack of a better definition- an over exaggerated emotional response. For example, if I listen to a news story, whether it be happy or sad, I will get “choked up with emotion” from an overwhelming feeling of joy or sadness. The same with listening to music on the radio. Is it just me? My TSH is in range for the first time in months.

Hello – Hopefully, you will get some other responses, but my understanding is that the emotional effects of having thyroid hormone levels out of balance can potentially linger before they resolve.

You mentioned that your TSH is just now coming “in range” — so is it possible that your levels were on a bit of a rollercoaster ride before finally levelling out?

    Take care!

    Kimberly,
Thanks for responding. Rollercoaster ride is a bit of an understatement. Still, it looks as though this is a “just me” issue, which actually tells me I need to look at something else for the origin of the issue. I know everything is not always thyroid related, but since I have felt this way for so long, and since I am still not well…..I thought it might be related.
