My 7 yr old grandson lives with me and was diagnosed with grave almost
a year ago. He has been battling bouts of “sadness” lately. I had
attributed it to not being able to see his mother, it never ocurred to me
that the disease itself could be causing it. I took him to counseling to
try to get a handle on it. I know alot about depression myself, having
watched my youngest son die 2 years ago. My advice to you is to get a good
support structure and talk, talk talk! Make sure you get out to walk or
ride a bike – start keeping a journal of your feelings. Sometimes it helps
just putting things on paper. It’s one way to get the emotions out of you.
Make sure you keep your sense of humor. Laughter fights off the bad feelings.
