    Hello all,
I had a TT last Tuesday (Dec 4). Wednesday I had labs done and was still very hyper. (3+) At that time Endo adviced me that the half life of your thryroid hormone is a week. He also said it would be a week or two before I needed any kind of replacement hormone. After an email, he said to come see him last week of December or the first part of January. This my questions….
I have not heard of anyone waiting that long…normally its that day or even the day after. Has anyone went longer than that? if so, how long?
    I feel better…tired…been sleeping a lot.
What are some things I need to look for being hypO. I am just now feeling better and I would prefer not to hit bottom again while waiting on replacement hormone.

    Thanks for the help!

I had OD on left eye Nov 16th, TT Dec 4 and scheduled for OD for right eye Dec 20th.

Because, right now, you still have thyroid hormone floating around (although no more will be made because of your total thyroidectomy)
If you began the thyroid hormone right away, (think about it) you ALREADY have too much (as you said you are hyperthyroid now, I am not familiar withe 3+ number, I am only familiar with lab values…..) so why add more to it?

You are still pretty post op, and you will be tired, primarily because that is how you feel after surgery and anesthesia.
My own experience is that after my surgery, it was about a month or so before I began my Synthroid. Depends on labs and how you feel.
