Hello – “Remission” is often defined by doctors as a period of one year or more with no meds, where your thyroid hormone levels remain stable. A good way to see if you are ready to start weaning further off the meds is to check antibody levels (TSI or TRAb). Patients who come off the meds but still have high antibody titers have a very high risk of relapse. Depending on your insurance, the tests aren’t cheap (several hundred dollars), but they can be done via a simple blood test.
