It was orbital decompression surgery and since he feels smoking makes the eyes worse he wanted to wait until I quit. That’s the way I understood it anyway.

Thanks for the replies everyone. The reason why I asked, of course is that i’m a smoker. My hairdresser has TED also, after graves many moons ago. Anyway, she DOESN’T smoke and had to have orbital decompression, muscle surgery, and lid surgery. Anyway, I’ve entertained the thoughts of quitting, just for health reasons and of course if I thought that it would improve the eyes. Smoking is the only enjoyment i have left, I hate to say. Anyway, I’m glad to hear some responses. I posted the same question on the thyroid news group and haven’t had any bites.

I also would like to know if anyone out there has quit and noticed an improvement.

    thanks again,

    stephanie

Hi Stephanie: I would also like to know the same thing..
I went to my GP today and asked about ZiBan(spelling) and he wants to check with the Endo on Monday..
I’m also a happy smoker(wish that wasn’t so) and would like to know if it’s necessary.. I did read that smoking is not good but didn’t explain why..

My AOl hasn’t been working for 2 days and haven’t beenable to read all the mail so about to try now and hopefully I won’t get knocked off..

    regards, Ricki
