Hi, Belinda: I’m sorry to hear about your problem.

I was pondering how it might be possible for the synthetic hormone to be causing your problem, because chemically what you are taking is identical to natural T4. It’s a bit like going into the chem lab and combining some sodium and some chlorine, under the proper conditions, and ending up with salt. You could call it “synthetic” salt, since you created it in a lab, but it is still salt, REAL salt. Then I remembered the fillers that pharmaceutical companies put in to make the chemical into a pill. These are generally supposed to be “inert” materials, but it IS possible for someone to have an allergic reaction to them from time to time — especially the food coloring that is put in, to make one dose-size different from another. So you and your doctor may have to experiment with different BRANDS of the levothyroxine sodium (the generic name for what you are taking), because each one has different additives, or perhaps with the levothyroxine pill that comes with no added food color.

    Wishing you luck,
    Bobbi

One more though on the email addresses — some people may be attempting their first contact with a support group and/or counseling. I didn’t post mine the first time because I wasn’t sure I wanted faceless individuals sending email to my house — and I shared the email address w. my husband — who needs it for work purposes. The second is no longer an issue, and after reading other posts I lost my fear and have received some good responses and questions via email. But I think if my first post required and email address I may just have chickened out.
Thanks for a great site. It’s really opened up many possibilities for me.

Why don’t some of you put your email addresses up (I know it’s a bit of a bother especially if you don’t have your own email address)? But, we are all in similar circumstances. I don’t know how others are but sometimes I don’t feel like posting but would write on a more personal basis. I’m not embarrassed about what I think (Heaven knows! I’m very vocal) but many of the things I’d like to say are very personal and should not be open to the scrutiny of hundreds or thousands of people. If friends were public, we all should run ads in newspapers regardless of our relationships. That’s a ridiculos thought!

It’s up to the posters. I’ve always left my address and have never gotten a crackpot response from this board.
